I was told that I didn’t meet criteria to be seen by their cardiologist even though I was referred there by another cardiologist so that I could be treated closer to home.

I've dealt with several providers and ancillary staff and have always had good care here.

Had an echo appointment at cardiovascular, they made me wait for literally an hour people who come after me they went and I was still waiting . When I checked in the girl who did the echo ( I don’t want to say her name) she did the echo and I was topless , I kept telling her I am cold I need warm blanket she said you have to wait and stay still , she gave me at the end of the appointment. Now I am having a very bad stomach pain from the cold . I do not like the service here. We are human , we should be respected .

I have heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and scarred lungs. I basically fired two Twin Cities metro cardiologists because neither told me about these three important conditions. I wasn't receiving any treatment after being given a diuretic and becoming severely dehydrated because they failed to give me potassium. My Mayo doctor is great. She explained everything in a way so I understood. She takes my health seriously. The other two cardiologists didn't educate me at all. But Mayo talked to me and provided a lot of written materials on heart failure.

Had me on heart medications that were destroying my kidneys. Unprofessional staff, ignores patient history. They said I was stable when I left the hospital after two days, my blood pressure was high enough to warrant an emergency room visit. They lie to make sound as though they have made the patient better.

I had an aortic valve replaced at Mayo clinic in December 2015. I chose Mayo based on their reputation and traveled from SC to MN in the winter to get what I hoped would be the best care. I was a low risk patient due to my age and general health. I was told there was a 5% chance that I would need a pacemaker due to the surgery. Long story short, not only did I end up with a pacemaker, but I am 100% pacemaker dependent. Bad luck perhaps on my part...or maybe more. When I returned home I ended up in the local hospital for a week due to fluid accumulation in my chest and required multiple thoracentesises to remove liters of fluid. Again, perhaps not the fault of Mayo and it could have happened anywhere. My big complaint with Mayo is that after MAJOR heart surgery at their facility I did not receive even one follow up call to check on how I was doing. I have had Veterinarians who are more diligent in following up on their patients after procedures! I have filled out several post op surveys for Mayo and have always included my concerns about this lack of follow-up/care and have NEVER heard from anyone. I am writing now, over 3 years later since I have once again filled out their survey and I think it is time for me to share my experience with the public to let people know that there are better options in my opinion than Mayo for cardiac surgery.
