My brother was a patient at UVSH for several weeks recovering from complications from a severe brain injury - some difficulty breathing, paralyzed on the left side, and unable to speak or communicate very well. While he was there, he received excellent care from the many wonderful caregivers. With the care he received, he went from a patient who could barely open his eyes to being alert and was slowly recovering some function. I will always be grateful for the caring staff - all the way from administration, case workers, nurses, nurse assistants, therapists, cleaning staff, to the cafeteria workers.

I worked as a Registered Nurse at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital and highly recommend it as a great place to work. Every day I came into the hospital I was able to make a positive difference in a patient or family member's day. UVSH has a strong culture of kindness that forms the foundation of the care setting. All of the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and PA's are kind and take the time to explain the rationale for their decisions and treatment options. They also take time to help Nurses learn and develop. The Respiratory Therapy team is great. Aleena, Cassy, Jared, and Britney have been especially great to work with. Jeff and his therapy team are skilled clinicians who will jump in to assist with basic care tasks when the nursing team gets overwhelmed. The two main Speech Therapist I worked with Ashley and Katie strike the perfect balance between advancing recovery and preventing aspiration. For patients with tracheostomies, you couldn't ask for better people. Unit Clerks including Cathy and Aly create a calm collaborative environment that helps coordinate tasks so none of the patients wait too long for care. The maintenance team led by Lance and Roberto simply gets things fixed quickly. There were no unnecessary lingering maintenance issues at all. A few of the housekeepers I loved were Janet and Ruby. They do a great job and make the day of the people around them smile. The Nursing team will provide you with the support you need to succeed. Linda is the best nurse educator I have ever worked with. Connie was my mentor, I aspire to have the skill, initiative, and grace she displays every day. Abe and Whitney provide the leadership to keep the nursing team rowing in the right direction and advocate for safe and intelligent decisions. Sometimes saying no to ideas proposed by people outside of nursing is needed! The wound nurse Leanne is helpful and knows how to provide the best environment for wounds to heal. I'm leaving a lot of great people off this review, I think you get the point. I only left this job to take care of my family out of state. If you're looking for a place where you can make a positive difference UVSH is a great place to work.

I truly wish there was a zero-star option for this "hospital". I wish I had seen the previous review before bringing my sister here. The specialty this hospital offers is NEGLECT. Dr. Al-Shuqarait has been rude and difficult to any question I have asked. After questioning him about the vent he let my sister's oxygen saturation drop to 51%. I'm not sure if that was to scare my sister to death or me. The other big thing is that one of the nurses, Brent, pulled out her wound drain. I get that accidents happen, but he blamed me for this (I was on the other side of the room). Since the drain was pulled out the staff has refused to give therapy. RUN don't walk away from this place.

My mother is staying in this hospital, she had brain surgery at IMC for a blood clot in her brain caused by a stroke since they transferred her here I get calls from my mother all day cause she’s upset about being mistreated/neglected. While I have been on the phone with my mother she called the nurse and I could hear over the phone they way she answered my mothers call, snappy and like she couldn’t be bothered to do her job. My mother can’t move the left side of her body right now and therefore needs help with bathing and such. But when my mother is refused a female nurse to help with such a matter and is forced to be given a bath by a man against her wishes because “she’s been there long enough and should know better that that’s not how they work”. I just want someone to tell me why it is they think it’s perfectly okay to force my bed ridden/mentally unstable mother to be touched by a man where she doesn’t feel comfortable. On top of all of this my mother has a hard time getting staff to help her with anything or talk her through anything. They are leaving my mother in the dark about her own care and then neglecting her be cause why? She calls the nurses station too often? She’s a lot of work? I don’t care the reason. These people are supposed to be medical professionals and yet couldn’t be bothered to help my mother clean up after being forced to where a diaper, or listen to her call when she’s in pain or needs help. I only hear bad things about my mothers care at this facility and am working on getting her out of there as soon as possible. Something needs to change at this hospital.

I have only been here a week and it doesn’t feel like a hospital. I’ve been in and out of hospitals and facilities for over a year I already feel like family here. No one likes being in a facility or the hospital. I’ve already seen progress here in the week that took me over a month then any hospital I’ve been in, in the last year. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. The staff is the finisher even when they’re busy they care whether it’s Brent always smiling or Allyson saving the day which she’s already done multiple times then every cna they have here qre like little worker bees. Huge 👍

I was lucky enough to go to Utah Valley Specialty Hospital because I found out I a very bad infection in my heart and brain. I spent 4 months in the hospital which was the best thing for me. I was able to regain my strength and vision. I also needed help with speech therapy. And if it wasn't for all my nurses and therapists (Cassi and Katie) Cassi I don't know where I would be without you. I thank you for all the one on one time coming and taking me to the gym and getting me to walk again and filling out my menus cuz my vision was blurry at first. Katie even though I didn't think I needed speech therapy it really got me back into problem solving and utilizing my brain working through problems for everyday life. They helped me recover from ankle surgery and I started walking again after a month and they were always there for me when I needed emotional support. So anyone thinking about going to Utah Valley Specialty Hospital I wouldn't think of another hospital I would've wanted to go to, even though I didn't know it at the time I went there because it's in Provo and I'm from Salt Lake but I'm so happy that fate sent me there. I encourage if you ever find yourself with a very bad infection and need the perfect hospital to get you back to good health I would highly recommend this hospital. If I could give them a ten stars instead of the max 5, I would. There nurses are amazing and very kind. Their knowledgeable and treat their patients with the utmost respect. Everyday they showed me how much they care.(Ms. Beverly) It isn't just a job to them they really care alot about their patients. The CNAs go the extra mile (Brooke and Sami) Sami it was nice working out with you. You really made my days go by and really motivated me go to the gym everyday. You even took your off time to write down our workouts. I really looked forward to our hour therapy sessions. Brooke you were very kind and friendly. You made me feel like you was a friend not just a nurse doing your job. Well thank you all for taking very good care of me. I really felt all of your love. Oh ya I also wanted to thank the kitchen staff and dietary because I went in there very skinny and you guys took extra special of me and gave me everything I ever asked for. I gained about 30 pounds. I was able to get very healthy with all the the food and physical therapy put together. I hope I never come back but I highly recommend if anyone needs a Specialty Hospital it's the one place that you would want to go or to send your loved ones to.

I would choose 10 stars if there were that many. I have a lot of experiences with hospitals and this one has far exceeded my expectations in how good the care was. It has been the best hospital and staff that I have ever had. The staff was great! They took awesome care of me but I also felt so welcome and cared for. I loved how all of the staff would stop in and check on me and say hello. The staff was so friendly and knew what they were doing and it helped me get through such a long stay. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone and will come back here if I have any further need. Thanks you guys!!
