Millhaven Horse Farm Derwood

Millhaven is an excellent boarding facility. They take wonderful care of the horses and the facility. The owners and staff are on site and communication has been excellent. It's obvious that they all really care about the animals and the farm. The price is reasonable and the location is perfect. This is a great place with great people.

In the last month or so I went searching for a barn to volunteer/ride/lease at. I first reached out via email and the owner, Diana, responded promptly. We met the following week and hit it off, since then you can find me at Millhaven 2 - 4 or more times a week. Diana is incredibly kind, skilled, and knowledgeable. All of the horses here are privately owned and all the people I have met that board here are incredible (everyone is friendly and welcoming). I feel extremely fortunate to have started my relationship with Diana, and subsequently all the other people and horses at Millhaven Horse Farm.

Working at Millhaven has expanded my experience dramatically. All workers and boarders are extremely friendly and supportive. Work schedules are very flexible, with easy communication, and is very much a learning environment. From working here, I can vouch that a lot of detail and dedication goes into taking care of these horses! Plenty of other opportunities on the farm!

The staff and owners at Millhaven are attentive and honest. The horses have access to great pasture and all seem happy to be there. Millhaven also makes vet, dental, and farrier care a breeze by putting horses on a regular schedule (that you can of course opt out of) and handling the horses for all routine care.

My fellow boarders are also friendly and laid back, which makes it an enjoyable place to board, train, and ride.

Millhaven is an excellent boarding facility. They take top-notch care of the horses and the facility. The owners and staff live on site and communicate regularly with boarders about turnout schedules and vet visits and keep us informed about current news regarding horse health. The extensive trail system (Agricultural Farm Park) abuts the Farm making it easy to hop on and ride for hours. I had to be out of town for 5 weeks and never worried about my horse or his care. The board is reasonable and the location makes it the perfect place for horse owners who work in the DC metro area. This is a great place for you and your horse to make lasting friendships.

We have boarded our horses at Millhaven for 12 years. Facilities cover all the bases: indoor arena, lighted outdoor arena, wooded trails, daily turnout if weather permits, on sight instructors are available. The horses are well taken care of, carefully handled, blanketed in cold weather with fans for hot days. Care is taken by Diana the barn manager to see that each horse gets the type of feed their age/body type requires. The Millhaven staff has always been very welcoming to us.

We are horse people who know and understand well what is involved in caring for horses, over the past twenty years we have stayed at the farm for weeks at a time and know it well. The care and attention given to the horses by the owners is exceptional, they both have a vast amount of experience and knowledge and are honourable and trustworthy people. The farm is very well maintained, and staff are treated like family , they have excellent facilities for both horse and rider, boarders can ride in the indoor or outdoor arenas and relax in shaded seating areas, horses get cooled off in the wash bay. it is a great place to board your horse.
I was quite shocked and horrified to read a couple of really bad, negative and extremely personnel reviews which do NOT give a true reflection of Millhaven Horse farm and the owners.
