It is a great place to see all types of music in an intimate setting. We are very lucky to have this venue available in St. Louis.

The Focal Point provides an invaluable service for both Maplewood and the wider folk music community. The tickets are cheap, the sound is superb, and the musicians are top-notch. This place keeps live folk music alive.

An intimate place to hear excellent music from this continent and beyond!

Ackwardly arranged intimate venue, where you have to leave to venue to buy things from the bar or to use the bathroom, then re-enter and show your wristband. Seats are narrow and someone might feel claustrophobic sitting between two grown people.
Music was good though and the organization is non-profit and operated by volunteers. The ticket prices were high. Twice what I paid for the same artist in Georgia.
No coat rack.
Plentiful parking behind the corner.

Award-winning, national, and international folk music performers, who aren't properly recognized by the popular music establishment, tour at this intimate venue. There's literally something for everyone every weekend because folk music spans so many genres around the world, including Old Time, Bluegrass, and Americana from here in the States. Any weekend might include a Japanese fingerstyle guitarist, an Irish singer-songwriter duo, or a Middle Eastern string/woodwind/percussion trio. The dedication of the volunteers keeps ticket costs low. It's a great place for a date night or to become a regular audience member and donor.

What a great venue! Cool atmosphere... And the acoustics were spot on. The room was lively without sounding muddled. Great drinks you can grab from Cafe Maya this place was so fun. We saw The Arcadian Wild and it was a priceless experience.

Excellent, non profit music venue. Concentrates on folk and Americana music. The space has great acoustics and is laid out perfectly as a small venue. Plus you can go next door to the always excellent Maya Cafe to get your drinks!
