Hidden gem.
Got a few nasi padang stalls, chicken rice stalls. All pretty decent.
There s a corner hand made fish balls noodles which has a long queue. Friend tried it, gave 4stars.

Newly opened fried/braised prawn noodle facing the playground and ATM definitely worth a 4 stars !!! "Hill Top"(山鼎福建面) is their name and prawn noodle is their game ! Closed on Monday. Sold out daily by 2 plus ! Come early to avoid disappointment !
Reopens as owner got himself injured due to an accident.

The Hawker centre is huge and airy but some shops were closed when I visited on Sat afternoon and even more stalls were closed when I revisited on a Sunday afternoon. The duck stew and cai Peng were tasty and delicious although they cost $6+ each.

Not to be confused with Empress Place, which is in town. Empress Road is off Farrer Road. I call it the "Royalty area", as the roads there include such names as King's Road, and Duchess Road...
The Empress Market is an average size market and hawker centre serving average food. It sports several nice murals on some walls. The good thing about the place is that it's got very high ceilings so it's airy and cool; and it's not too crowded, even when I was there on Sunday morning.
Food wise, nothing stands out, although the wanton noodles did have a rather long queue. My personal favourite is the Kopi tarik which is one of the nicest ones I've had.

A medium size hawker with wet market in the same location.

Loved the variety of food stalls in this compact hawker - muslim, bbq, noodle/rice, drink stalls, pastries, etc. My favorite includes the pork rib soups, ice cendol, you tiao, and the Indonesian food stalls - and still need to try other stalls. Prices seems to be reasonable.

Also checked out nearby bakery, frozen meat/seafood, fruit stalls, and recently open coffee shop - Croco.

It's close by from Farrer Rd MRT and right next door to the D'Leedon complex.
Airy, well ventilated, bright. Lots of walking space. Bought kueh at this kueh shop #01-84. Ang Ku Kueh for $1.10 each. All assortments of kueh!
