Velankanni Beach

Velankanni Beach is a major tourist place in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. The beach is also next to Velankanni Mata Church. It's always a busy place. It is also a beach where both children and adults can swim in the sea. There are many commercial establishments on the way from the church to the beach and around the beach. Hotels, tea shops and rooms are all available. 14 KM from Nagapatnam Bus Stand

It's a crowded beach, yes. It's so close to the church that one can walk and trust me I'll say walk... It's been a couple of times I've been there and the fact it's loaded with guests all over the world, is amazing.. I saw some tourists too ( non Indian).
The stalls with food, the holy items, fruits, gifts and many more are full of people every time you go. I think they shut down by 10pm, coz almost everything was closed.. The restaurants close by 11 pm.
You could bargain in everything you see, don't get carried away with their religious manipulation advising you as I was conned. Mother Mary should understand if you don't get carried away with those manipulative charms..
Overall id recommend this place for a visit.. It's worth at least one visit..

Beach with no infrastructire for visitors. Not at all clean and tidy. Shore is full of cloths, wastes and other stuffs. Roads to beach are conjusted and dusty. Beach is also deep and found not ideal for swimming as there is danger.

Crowded but you can have some fun.

But strongly dont try any dishes/ snacks over there on any shops at beach side and even nearby church. There are high chances for old preserved food which is not good for health.

The beach is not maintained properly... You will be able to spot a lot of plastic, paper and other waste on the way to the beach.

If maintained properly this beach will be a center of attraction... The color of the beach is breath taking it starts with a very cool green color and gets lighter as it moves towards shore.

The view from the nearby terrace is so cool and the wind is also so calming and cool even in the hot summer days

Anyone who has visited this beach can say this beach is polluted beyond explanation and it alone can contribute to the destruction of the total life forms in sea. Sad to sea strict actions are not taken to ban plastics completely from seashore area and water bodies. Every single person visiting the beach has contributed to this shameful situation of the beach.
Hope authorities will take immediate action to ban all single use items near the beach.
