A gem. I’ve ridden the Green trail west to east about 340 times in the last year and a half. The rest about half that number.
I’ve seen hawks, peregrine falcons, copperheads, coral snakes, water snakes, coyote, bobcat, and lots and lots of unleashed dogs. Read that sentence again.
I understand wanting to let your dog off the leash in the woods. I have dogs. But an unleashed dog will often wander into the way of someone or something and not know what to do. That’s how they get hit by cars and bitten by snakes.
Enjoy the trails, watch out for nature and other people, leave no trace, and take pictures.

Came to the picnic area to park the car, which is where we usually go for a picnic and sometimes for hiking. Last time we tried trails here (maybe 2 years ago?)and there was a lot of construction going on then. This time felt different--wanted to try it because it looked better, and it turned out the trails were very nice. Pleasant walk and good time in nature. Did not really know how to stick to one trail, but managed to walk in a loop after all just by winging it. Walking wasn't a real plan today, so want to come back with suncare products and food.

Love the trails for hiking. You can make it as easy or difficult as you desire! Feels like you are out of Houston at a state park.

I like the trails here. Some trails are in a lightly wooded area and good for hiking and biking (Green Ridge Trail). You will encounter a few steep jumps (about 2 feet) and a lot of mature roots all across the paths. So a moderate trail for beginner bikers and an easy one for regular hikers. The other trails (Purple Trail etc) are easy for walks and hikes with some paved paths not accessible to bikers.
Views: You get to be in the middle of a wooded forest right in the middle of Houston. A few small streams that lead into the Bayou are quite nice to see.
Flora: Oak, Pine and Cypress trees everywhere with a few palms (how did they get here?!). Also wild berries, golden rods, and mushrooms (after rain).
Fauna: Squirrels and Hares are common. I saw Yellow-tailed Cuckoos and a quick glimpse of a red fox. You have to be really quiet to see them.

Cool park. Land bridge isn't as big as I thought it would be. Nice space to have fun with family.

Great little green space to get out, easy to get mixed up in the network of trails but easy to find your way, made for a nice 10k trail run after work.
And free parking was a nice surprise

Many miles of nature trails. I'm so happy that they are now open to the public. Parking in Picnic Ln parking lots.
