I am writing to express my disappointment and concern after visiting the Caribbean Market on New Hampshire Avenue yesterday. Upon returning home, I discovered that some of the food items I purchased, specifically the Grace Home Style Soups in packets, had expired. This oversight is unacceptable and raises questions about the quality assurance practices at this establishment.
I am left wondering if the health department ever conducts inspections at this location, as the sale of expired food items poses a serious health risk to consumers. Additionally, I was dismayed to find that the store does not provide customers with a contact number or email for feedback or inquiries. This lack of communication further adds to the frustration of my experience.
I traveled 1.5 hours to visit this market, only to be met with expired and overpriced items. I urge the management to take immediate action to address these issues and improve the overall quality control processes at the store. As a loyal customer, I expect better service and adherence to food safety standards.
I hope that my concerns are taken seriously and that steps are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Overall the inventory of Trinidadian grocery items is semi decent but the prepared food was disgusting!! Cheap ingredients and watered down in the name of saving a buck. The curry chana was loaded with onions and curry water. The roti is greasy and gross. The fish cake was fishy. The doubles was very thick and tasted nothing like doubles. The fry bake was SWEET! Nothing tasted or felt clean. I understand inflation but come in! Have some pride in serving your customer edible and decent food, especially at your price point. I'll keep taking the trek further north to get my fix.

Cow heel soup on a Saturday or any day is a must have. The soup taste like the traditional home made soup we all make on a Saturday. Cow heel soup is the best!!! The meat is tender and the broth gives a traditional taste. I love hot sauce and get mine with some tasty hot sauce!

I was searching for a Caribbean market to support and purchase from after being on the Next Door and wanting to check out other Carib stores.
I provided the 4-star ratings being my purchase of few produce (avocados ๐ฅ, tomatoes ๐ ), mostly sauces/spices, snacks, and some juices was $74.82!!! Insanity. Maybe it's inflation or the trickling recession still but that's insane especially when I didn't order any seafood or big bulk items...
IF I go next time I'd order my seafood, a few juices, spices, and avocadoes. Maybe that will make the 35 min trip more worthwhile ๐ฏ.
However, I loved seeing the characteristics of an ethnic market store: rice bags, packed shelves, lots of accents, and Caribbean brands I recognize (especially Jamaican brands ๐๐พ๐๐ฏ๐ฒ๐!) Hopefully the store is Black-owned, I'll just say that. With that being said please HIRE cashiers of deeper skin tones and diverse backgrounds too. Don't just hire the lightskin Latinx ladies!

I gave them one star because the cashier with colourful hair stood there and watched me pack all 30 items I purchased.
The grocery has quite a large variety of island products.
Most from Jamaica and Trinidad.
Probably wonโt go again because of the lack of customer service.

I dive 30 minutes to this store every month because that are the most robust Caribbean market in the area by far! You won't be disappointed!

My Jamaican GF loved this place. Said it had all the tastes of home she was missing. Huge selection jammed into that spot!

So grateful that my Jamaican coworker introduced me to this place. Don't let the small amount of storefront glass fool you. This market is large and very well stocked. I love the variety of fresh vegetables and I purchased the best tasting Curry powder I have ever had; and it is proudly made in Jamaica.
Such an amazing array of meats and animal products. I'm a fiend for some oxtail and the cooler case had a mountain of them.
Sorry to say I cannot find the photographs I took while shopping there.
