I hired the whole centre for my big birthday and it was absolutely fantastic. The setting is amazing and the centre has everything you need to entertain and feed a big group of all ages. The kids had a fantastic time, exploring the grounds, the nearby woodland and all the games in the 'party room' (including dressing up box and table tennis). There's a big dining room with a hatch through to the kitchen.
The Party room upstairs is the cherry on the cake - a long room so adults can hang out at one end while kids played at the other. My friends even built a coctail bar and we hired speakers for the disco. The central courtyard was also great for hanging out into the evening.
Sleeping arrangements are flexible with clean airy rooms sleeping 2-12 so you can mix and match and up to 25 people can camp too which meant we could be flexible with numbers. It's only 15 minutes walk down to the reservoir but it feels really remote and beautiful. Lots of us walked to the stunning Alport Castles and others did runs. There is also the option to kayak and paddleboard at Derwent Fisheries.

This centre is fantastic for groups. Clean dorms, a good-sized hall and kitchen. There is a long rickety lane on the way uo, and it takes you to a wilder world. Even tho it's only half an hour frok Sheffield, the centre feels in a different time and place, looking down over the reservoir and surrounded with mossy rocks and hardcore sheep. V accessible to amazing walking, climbing, group activities.

Lovely view, but not very welcoming to DofE campers; there are signs everywhere banning participants from leaving the field area. The field dedicated specifically to DofE campers is pretty lumpy and on a slope so we were slipping down it all night, and the singular toilet (shared amongst everyone) has a latch that gets jammed randomly so it couldn't be used all night. Wasn't a single staff member in the office to show us where to camp: we were met by a random visitor who helped us.
Definitely not the worst campsite out there, but nowhere near as good as the campsite from the previous night.

Went here on a school trip in September 2019, was absolutely amazing! Lovely activities and fun outdoor things to do. 100% recommend to any families wanting to spend time or bond! Or with friends

Very cozy, great for a group weekend getaway. The view from the courtyard was lovely. Worth noting the road up to the place can be concerning in icy conditions but the warden goes up before the visitors do so they should tell you how it is that day.

Truly magical space, I have high expectations, but somehow they managed to surpass them. Our young persons loved the space, a cosy lounge and fire pit in the evening, great selection of activities and warm, comfortable, clean and tidy dorms. We are definitely going to return. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
