Not recommended in winter or when the weather has been wet. A hard slog through mud and boggy ground to get there. Came back down (to Crowden) via the Pennine Way which was better, but still rocky and testing

Although the area at the top of the hill is without much detail the walk in from Crowden along the Laddow Rocks route is excellent. The way up over the moors is ok but not a dry route after heavy rain!

Second time I've done this walk from Crowden car park to Hey Edge and then on to Black Hill, returning to Crowden via the TPT.
Would recommend to the casual walker, but extra care is required in bad weather. It was very misty on my walk and even an experienced walker like myself needed some navigational help from my OS companion.
Paths on the east side of this walk are not always easily visible and it is very boggy in places, so recommend wearing waterproof boots.

Walked from Deer Hill End Road to black hill and it was such a beautiful walk can't wait to do it again

Hard graft getting up luddow rocks but worth it at the end.

One of my favourite walks in The Peaks. Alot less popular walk for escaping the crowds and being on the wild side with all the peat bogs.

Highest hill in West Yorkshire. Worth a climb and walk. Lots of boggy patches to watch out. Noting much for the kids, other than treacherous walk, so won't recommend taking them.
