Just spectacular! We've been saturday 19.10.2024 and after recent rainfalls the waterfall and river were really putting on a show! Waterfall was at full blast, riverrushing, foaming and making bubbles :)
We still managed to cross the river to get to the waterfall hike without getting out feet wet, but probably easiest would be waders or even some water shoes if you're ok with cool water.

The hike starts at the old railway stop parking, going up river. There is a crossing just before the woods start, leading to the hils, and could be if you follow up river it would lead to the waterfall too, but haven't tried it yet.
Woods are so beautiful now, changing to autumn colours, and easi enough anyone can go. Just be mindful of slippery roots and muddy bits.
There were families having picnicks and children climbing trees, so great place for a fantasy adventure :D
A bit further up you get to a fork, with path on the right leading up to the plains. At this point you want to cross the river and on the left bank there's a trail to the waterfall. It's more challenging, some rock scrambling, muddy and slippery, so best have decent boots, and a walking stick can be handy.
At the end there's ways to ascend further to the top, and to descend to the base of the watwrfall.
It felt like being in an Indiana Jones movie, exploring an ancient jungle. No secret treasure cave behind the curtain of water, I'm afraid, but the views and experience are definitely worth it!

Parking is quite spacious, but gets full quickly on a nice day, so be sure to come early, or late. Folk also park on the side of the small road leading to it.
Be mindful of potholes!
No facilities in terms of toilets or food.

We'll keep coming back for more adventures!

Saw this on tik tok and had to go and see this beautiful waterfall for myself. We took a wrong turn so ended up on the wrong side of a hill. It was a steep climb but my sister and I had the best time! It had been dry so the waterfall wasn't as dramatic as some pictures had shown but that didn't make any less spectacular. Highly recommend going to experience this for yourself.

Very nice waterfall. Access can be a bit tricky if after the rain as one has to cross the stream twice but it’s definitely worth it. Parking is just off the main road and it takes maybe 20-30 min to get there.

Beautiful waterfall with free parking. Things to bear in mind: the hike is quite hard with walking over slippery rocks in water. Not suitable for children and please wear appropriate footwear.

Before the hike gets tough there’s a gorgeous little area where you can sit beside the stream and have a picnic so that part is nice for kids. All in all, took 70mins there and back

Bit difficult to find, but use the map, waterfall is marked with an X. Cross the river just after the point where there is a path going up to the plains on the right (which you don't take). There is a conjunction of creeks there. Keep to the left and it's only 5-10 minutes further. Again, bit hard for small children.
Also suggested for dogs.

Must Visit if you want to have a day adventure

This isn’t a walk for small children, people with disabilities or wheelchairs/pushchairs. Good boots are a must. The path is great until it ends and the rest of the walk to the waterfall is to traverse up the river and over it’s boulders or you take a very thin, up and down, very uneven, muddy and high in places path. Stunning place. Dressed for scrambling back down and it was great fun.

Outstanding natural beauty in the north peak district. The hike is short, around 20 minutes from the car park, beginning with good paths but leading into a rocky climb either through the river or beside. This route is not accessible for all and some dogs may struggle. For those who make it are welcomed with an area out of this world, feels more like Avatar then anywhere on this planet. Can be busy at times. Park at Wood head Railway Station or in the laybys on the road, enjoy a scenic hike beside the river with multiple points for dogs and people to take a dip. Phone signal is very poor here so would advise to go as a pair of more.

Absalutly beautiful place to visit.it is very steep and a tough climb but my boys managed it ok with my 11 and 3 year old only falling in twice 🤣 lots of stepping stones wich my boys loved and the views are to die for. The waterfall can be found at the end of the trail if you follow the main trail up as I said it is quite difficult to climb and a no go for buggys or wheel chairs but if your able to then it's worth spending a few hours admiring tje beauty of the area it really is breath taking.
