It's sad that they are not answering phone calls... like what's the point in having a phone if they aren't gonna use it?!? As others have stated... emails won't ever be returned and you won't get no updates unfortunately. I am honestly beginning to believe that the people working here are no different than the folks working for the US Embassy in Vientiane because they also have a phone that is NEVER answered and their emails either go unanswered or better yet generic email responses without any updates on visa cases. People from the Laos Homeland are making the rest of the Laos people look terrible.

As of May 9, Laos allows visa on arrival or E-visa. Definitely do that and don’t send it to the embassy. The staff are kind and helpful in person, but processing time is unpredictable and impossible to follow up unless you go in person. I was not able to get through on the phone at all, nor was my parents’ intern a couple months ago. She had to go in person and delay her flight several days because her visa was not processed. I did visa on arrival. Fill out paperwork at customs (the booth is on the far right-hand side) and pay $40 in cash (U.S. citizens). I got through in 15 minutes a week ago. Everybody come!! It’s amazing here!

Worst embassy ever. Gives Lao people a bad reputation period. They should be ashamed. I don’t think anyone even works here. They have the audacity to have a voice message stating they went to lunch and will open back up at 1pm when it’s 11:30am and they supposedly only operate for 3 hours from 9-12. No one answers! No voicemail box set up. All the available numbers are garbage. They’ll cash the money though. Corrupt.
Update 5/21/22. Finally received passport back after a month and countless days of calling. Do not pay to expedite. There is no such thing. Laos has fully reopened so best to get your visa on arrival. If you ever get through by phone call, be grateful that you did and have a list ready with questions because the shock of them finally answering your call will probably overwhelm you. Email has an automated response, so none of your questions will be answered. There will be many excuses as to why your money order was cashed and why you still have not received your passport and visa. Be weary when doing business here. You have been warned.

No one picks up the phone for any extensions throughout the entire work week. Don't send your passport and Visa paperwork to this place. You will never get an update and won't know if you will ever get your passport back since there is no way of communicating with anyone. They might as well shutdown their website and office since nothing seems to get done there Horrible experience with this embassy. Deserves a 0 star.

I called and spoke to Mr. Deth a few times about getting visas for our upcoming travel back to Laos. He was very helpful and when our passports arrived to him, he paid good attention to the work required and mailed them back in a timely matter (we paid for overnight delivery there and back). Thank you, Mr. Deth!

Why is it so hard for someone to pick up the phone. I have tried countless time before. I am leaving the country in 3 days where are my visa's? This business doesnt value their customers at all. How can you call your a Embassy when you dont even know how to communicate with your customers? Everyone who works there should be a shame of themselves.

I wish I could leave ZERO stars.
This Embassy is ridiculous. I sent my Visa Application and Passport over 3 weeks ago. They don't pick up the phone, return voicemails or emails and I still haven't received my Passport back...I'm due to leave for Laos in a week and am Passport-less. Does anyone have any advice?
