Its ok.. not to bad now when the snakes and 100000 types of bugs mainly the mosquitoes and yellow flies that are absolutely insane and will leave huge welts on you aren't out. But theres still the bears, bobcats and coyotes that roam the area everyday!! The locals still have a hunt club back there and they're always banging around or shooting etc.. if you go i would go from jan-april or may because the mosquitoes will be out by April and the yellow flies come in june and are the spwan of Satan himself!! Summertime there's so many bugs its miserable, theres snakes allover the damn place.. rattlesnakes, copperheads, water moccasins and the nonvenomous ones also.. theres huge spiders swinging from webs across the paths alot lol.. like i said its ok ut its definitely not for the weak or beginners mainly because if the bugs are really that bad..youve never seen anything like it i promise and you have to be on your toes for snakes, bears and coyotes because they are there everyday.. I know because I live right there and have for 40 years

*** Go to Portsmouth Ditch Trail Head on Google Maps!!! Follow brown Wildlife Refuge signs. Trails and parking are down the gravel road.

Neat trail, but come prepared for ticks, mosquitoes, and blood flies. You are in a swamp after all!
