Terrible customer service. Called for information on a permit, got transferred multiple times without being informed I was being transferred and did not get an answer on my question before the call ended.

I went to the building department last week and I was very impressed with how nice and accommodating everybody was.

Martha helped me with my request and provided me with top notch service. Thank you again!

Code enforcement officer Chris is a gem in the dept. We need the whole dept to be like him. Mankind must know we need an authority on us to make sure everyone is upto code, but the sympathy and respect Chris has is beyond my respect. Don’t leave the dept!!! I pray for you and your family.

incredibly professional and responsive and technically detailed work of the Town of Hempstead Building Permits department for every step of the way for a rental permit from getting copies of key documents like title, survey online to a turnaround of 48 hours for the scheduling of an inspector permit. Submitted Renewal for my home improvement license almost 2 months now and I'm still waiting. Submitted my NYC contractor license renewal less than weeks ago and it's already renewed. What a shame we have to wait so long to renew a license and loose business and the license is the most expensive to renew compared to suffolk and NYC. SHAME !!!!

Needed information from the building department, Charlene answered the phone and was very helpful in directing me to the right place. Victoria Walker responded to my email very quickly, within minutes. I called her with additional questions and she was very supportive in assisting me on my computer to find the documents needed.

Was anticipating a horrible time getting a permit needed for my home.
Anything but! Arrived at about 9:30 in the morning, and by 10:30 everything was completely done thanks to an employee by the name of Drew S. Step by step, he helped me complete the process. Everyone involved could not be nicer if they tried, but Drew was the man. Thank you for making my experience at the building department so great!
