School Without Walls at Francis Stevens

As a DCPS sub seeing the different schools in the district is part of my daily work. This school has some good teachers. They are working hard and that is apparent with the outcomes they are getting from their students. The plans have demonstrated expected outcomes and the students mostly attempt to meet these expectations, but there is a core of students that provide that challenge. The school is probably going to see some major sight renovations soon as the layout is awkward, but students adjust to things like that. As it stands, this is a fairly well run operation.

This school is where my kids went for 2 years. I was happy with the location but not with the up keep of the school. I was told by a teacher that there would be a renovation done but never saw so much of a can of paint being used.I love the staff and the programs that come with the school.Such as the YMCA aftercare, it was a life saver when I got my new job and couldn't be there until 5. My issue is that this school has amazing bone and structure that if giving the care and love they could have the top school in NORTH WEST DC. All it would take is a total shut done, bright kids friendly colors, bright lights, and a MUCH MUCH better use of the space. Other then that the school is dirty but the class rooms are clean because the teachers keep there own area clean but who is cleaning the rest of the school ??
Just fix the key points and this will be the best school is DC.
