Visited the Whitney Plantation with my school as a chaperone and it was truly amazing, our tour guy was great..he took the time to answer all the students questions. It was the history for me, I had a great time and will be visiting again.

Our visit was a very moving experience. We had an excellent tour guide. Everyone involved with the restoration and opening of this museum should be commended.

We originally wanted to take the guided tour but I would recommend the self guided. It really allows you to go at your own pace and soak everything in.

This was an amazing experience. This was my first plantation. I would start inside and read a it if the information they have about the owners and the uprising then head outside. This is something I think all Black Americans should do. It really provides just a snippet of what took place to build this country and wealth we have yet to be given.

What an amazingly, eye-opening experience Whitney Plantation offers. To have visited during its 10 year anniversary made this experience even more memorable and life changing. As a descendant of black slaves in this country, I have been far removed from the history of the brutality and violence slavery forced on my ancestors. To be able to hear the real history from tour guide, James Kelly, was very enlightening and helpful in seeing how the past is not far from the present. Thank you to the staff and leadership for this experience.

I was a bit disappointed by my visit. While their mission is superb, the tour guide was so knowledgeable and passionate, the memorials are powerful , reflective, and somber. Overall from the drive up to the non descript building in need of painting and maintenance, lack of clear signage, outright rude admissions clerk just ignoring me, looking past me, not answering a question I had to ask quietly and politely three times and was given wrong information. She literally not listening looking through or past me. I just was not impressed with the overall presentation, buildings in need of painting, maintenance, grounds unkempt, benches and chairs with rust in need of cleaning and paint and the eyesore of a property next door to even the dirt and yard debris surrounding the memorials. I hope that they are able to secure funding and find ways to increase revenue so that they are able to continue to improve the property and tell the story of the hundreds of people who passed through this land.

Susan was an amazing tour guide. She was a wealth of knowledge and will never stop learning. She answered questions before they were even asked. You can feel the love she has for her job. This is not just a job to her. She wants people to understand and feel what the slaves went through. Everyone should request Susan as a guide. She's phenomenal.

We had an exceptional tour guided by Jim Kelly, a local historian who spares nothing in sharing his extensive knowledge of the plantation and slavery overall. I highly recommend taking the guided tour to hear these engaging stories and insights that only a guide will give. This is essential learning for all people, understanding the experience of the enslaved, and the role slavery played in the development of America. The memorial to the children is the most sobering and heart wrenching. If you are considering a plantation tour, which you should, this is the one to visit.
