Fantastic carrusel from 1921
This is an amazing, historic Carousel! I went on it with my girlfriend and it was an absolute hoot. She insisted on riding 2 of the Ostriches which along with the rabbits and other non horses on there was quite interesting to behold and ride (not as nuts as riding a Fennec Fox at the DC zoo but as the antique ones go I assume Ostriches are pretty out there).
Another interesting thing I noticed is it’s pretty fast, way faster than I expected, which was a lot of fun. I felt like I was riding a Chocobo from Final Fantasy (for those who don’t speak hyper nerd, picture a giant yellow Ostrich like bird capable of being ridden and running high speeds) into Battle! It was awesome!
One thing I found really weird, not bad just weird, is a good amount of the music coming from and on the attraction were Calliope covers of Iconic classic pop songs. Half the time me and my girlfriend were at the park we were kinda playing a game figuring out what song was playing. The ones I remember were Mr Sandman and a Whole bunch of Abba in a row.
So if you like historical carousels and are curious what Dancing Queen and Mama Mia sound like on a Calliope, check this out! It’s a blast!
Edit: almost forgot. The Carousel closes before the Park and If you want to ride it I recommend coming on the Weekend when the house are longer, because on week days it closes at 2.

Anytime we visit family in Maryland, we go to the carousel. We went to the grand reopening this year and my son bought a 100 year anniversary shirt. He is obsessed with the music

One of the most best beloved Wurlitzer band organs out there.
This is such a special thing to have in the community - our pre-K aged kids love it. They have a big festival in the fall on the last day it is open for the season which is something we circle on the calendar every year. This Carousel combined with the puppet theater, playground equipment, and aquarium make this a great spot for an outing with the kids. Highest marks.
This is a beautiful carousel and it's only 1.25 for a three song ride!
