Plenty of concrete walking paths. The concrete walkways have the smoothest surface.
The Howard Park Public House is located within the park. Cool vibe and atmosphere.
For the cooler weather there are fire pits with seats that surround fire pit. Nice ambiance.
The kids area is the coolest I've ever seen. There are different slides with various heights. The climbing area is neat. I love that the entire floor in kids area is covered with a soft foam but sturdy enough to withstand the foot traffic. The jungle gym area is unique and not your typical.
The design and layout is awesome.
A nice addition to Howard Park. Howard Park is within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. The city atmosphere is inviting and fun.

Fun for all ages . Great park to visit

More than a park. This place offers amenities for all ages. Is an emerald for South Bend. And is accessible from Mishawaka to Niles by an extensive trail network.
From food to ice skating, a large creatively enclosed extravaganza play area for the little ones and beautify designed open spaces.
Howard Park is great to stroll around, find a peaceful spot to create, or attend South Bends awesome festivals and large family events at. Top notch South Bend.

Went to the Fusion Festival, it wasnt what I had expected, was hoping their were more vendors and craft booths but it was mainly food and music, maybe next year it will be better, if not just wont waste me time going again

We went to the 2023 Fusion Fest. It was really nice! I didn't know what to expect. Well, it exceeded my expectations. I really loved the colorful pavilions. The food smelled wonderful, the music was upbeat and lively. It had a nice vibe.

Howard Park has been there for many years, but they have remodeled it with a new playground area and ice rink.
There are many nice new features. However, I don't know who did the planning, but in my opinion, it wasn't very well thought out.
1. I'm not sure if they intend to leave the chain-link fencing in the middle of the park or if it is just there temporarily during construction, but all of that needs to be removed. It is horribly uninviting!
2. If they want to continue to have summer concerts there, they need a stage on the north or south edge of the park. The entire audience was looking toward the west during sunset, and you could not see the performance. A raised stage would be nice, too. When everyone was dancing, you couldn't see the band at all.
3. Bathrooms aren't in a central location. Maybe I should just be glad there are bathrooms.
4. There is an ugly concrete sculpture with a pointed edge sticking up near the sloped walkway. I can just see someone falling and busting their head open on that!
There were several people in wheelchairs there last night for the concert. The slope seemed a bit steep to me, but I do not know what accessible code requires. It may be perfectly fine. Maybe I should just shut up and be glad there weren't stairs.
These are just quick observations, and I realize everyone has their own opinions. I hate to seem ungrateful about brand new upgrades to a facility that was previously neglected for so long. I'm sure they spent a fortune on this, but it seems to me that they got hoodwinked.

It has very much improved!!! My brother loves the playground, and I flew my kite while mom and her husband watched my brother. The park is clean and beautiful. I saw people walking their dogs. The dogs I saw were enjoying it too. Skater friendly (any skater! From shoes to boards!) Images are me with my kite
