Had a great time at the Ark! Staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. The animals were out cuz it was still cool, missed the tigers though, they were lounging in the shade out of sight.
We visited with our son and granddaughter and really had no expectations since we hadn't heard of Animal Ark until that morning. Please bear in mind that this place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, as it should be, there are wild animals here right? Just take your time and enjoy the drive in, it's worth it! The gift shop/office is really nice, and the employees are pleasant. My wife is handicapped right now so we were able to rent a golf cart which was just perfect. The grounds were nice, the cages and viewing stands are nice and well kept. I recommend trying to find out the animal feeding times, that's when you'll get the best view of the animals. I'm not going to try to name all the animals here you can look that up,but I thought the variety was impressive. In my opinion this is a worthwhile visit!!
Animal Ark is a great animal sanctuary in the Northern Nevada desert. There is a variety of animals and big cats to see. When I visited the cheetah was injured so was in a back pen, but the other big cats were out, with the mountain lion being the most hidden as expected. The black bears are most active during their mid day feedings and best to see at the times shared. Overall great staff, animals and a great experience!
This was an amazing experience! Let's start off by saying of you can't walk the 1 mile trail. Have no fear you can rent a golf cart! The animals were amazing and very well taken care of. We decided to adopt a few animals and will return every month to do it again
Loved all the Animals we even adopted I.0. He was special hoot. Enjoyed seeing Gracie and Bonnie had nice time the weather was perfect day to enjoy the animals 💜
We went on a field trip. We also have a season pass. It was ok. Certainly nice to have something in the area but I wouldn't consider this a must see. Personally the staff hasn't really made us feel very welcome on the 2 instances we have visited, which is why I deducted 2 stars. The 1st visit we bought our pass and whoever checked us out didn't write down what kind of membership we bought and when someone else called to confirm she kind of gave me the 10th degree. I felt like it was pretty clear what we had purchased. I let it go though but when we went on our field trip right before Thanksgiving, the gal was a little rude to 1st graders in my opinion. She also rushed us through all the exhibits. I am not sure if she was having a rough day or what. It wasn't the best experience and the other parents and teacher on the trip all commented on it. We still had a good time despite her attitude.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They were patient and listened intently to both my 6 and 4 year old who love all things animals and answered their 100 questions without any signs of annoyance. They have a great selection of cats, we were happily surprised to see a Jaguar here. Definitely wear tennis shoes since the path is mostly sand.
