The mood was set by cold and unfriendly lady working behind the bar. a simple enquiry of whether or not the kitchen is open met with a condescending "yep" as if it was a stupid question. (keep in mind, have been turned away multiple times due to the bar not being open at this time).
Ordered food, which arrived much later than expected despite barely anyone being in the pub, both burgers were lukewarm at best and very dry. Only thing I enjoyed were the chips, but only because I like slightly overcooked and brittle chips. My partner, not so much.

Sad to have an experience like this considering the rest of the positive reviews. Hope this was just a bad day for the staff.

Really gone downhill the last year.
Booked a table for the Sunday roast only to be told they no longer do it. But it's clearly advertised on their website!
Previous time we came they didn't have food as they had no chef.

Great pub, friendly helpful staff, really nice cocktails and good food. Good atmosphere, lots of outdoor seating.

Had a nice meal with my husband here today. The man serving us couldn't have been more helpful. Due to dietary requirements I needed vegan gluten free and he checked with the chef to get options and any alternative accompaniments, as well as confirming things once he brought the food out. He was also very chatty and pleasant with all the customers, and service was nice and quick. Will definitely go again if want a quiet lunch in town.

Beef burger with skinny fries, no tomato or sauce.
- good beef, would get sauce next time
- fries were crisp and didn't require any extra seasoning, the quantity of salt was perfect

Chicken parmigiana.
- the chicken was moist with a fantastic layer of breadcrumbs. The chicken and tomato blend had a good texture and didn't feel or taste greasy
- the chips were perfect, an amazing crunch without feeling fatty

Would visit again, the outside area is a nice touch on a sunny day
