great place on the beach. we rode our bikes down the beach and stopped here. it was so nice that they bring you a pitcher of ice water. we must of hit it at the right time. as soon as lunch hit there was a long line. we had a great view from our table. our waiter checked on us several times. someone else brought our food out so you know it's not sitting. the fresh fruit with your sandwich was nice and it was fresh.

Great place right off the beach! Had some refreshing drinks and some delicious food for lunch!

"The Dune House in Shelter Cove, right on the beach in Palmetto Dunes, is a gem! I grabbed a sweet tea—delicious!—and couldn't resist picking up a T-shirt because the vibe here is just that cool. It’s a perfect spot to hang out on the beach. No need to pack lunch—you can eat under the umbrellas while your food is grilled right in front of you. There’s also a bar area under the shade, complete with fans, where the bartenders are super friendly. On our first visit, we enjoyed a well-cooked hamburger for lunch. Definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to!"

Seems like a great place, but didn’t work out for us. When we got there it wasn’t busy and a guy told to sit anywhere at any open table. We did and proceeded to wait. And wait and wait. Then we watched three employees have a discussion pointing around to tables all around us but never came to our table. Can eat or drink if they don’t want to serve….
When we just got up to leave the guy who initially told us to sit anywhere said “thanks for coming by” like he didn’t either realize what just happened or didn’t care. When we were walking out one of the three having the meeting did try to get us to stay. I politely pointed out what just happened that three of them were standing there and none came to take an order. He kind of accepted the situation. I appreciate his attempt to retain us. Great views and nice outside space. Maybe just make sure you order from the bar and then carry it out to the deck and bypass the servers all together?

Great place for lunch, on the beach! Fun atmosphere with a large deck for seating with umbrellas and an open air indoor area. We are staying down the beach about a mile and it was an easy walk there from the beach side. EXCELLENT fish tacos with corn tortillas and great drinks on the rocks. Highly recommend when out for a beach day and in the area.

This one is a bit difficult. First, the service was fantastic! Very polite and prompt. The atmosphere was pretty nice, too, especially if you like the beach. But of the four of us who ate together, I was the only one who enjoyed my food. I got the Angus burger with a pickle wedge and chips; it was quite good. My daughter got the avocado BLT and said that the tomato was slimy and the avocado seemed days-old. Neither of my sons seemed overly happy with their meals, either (good thing they chose the place!). On the flip side, we got a house salad with grilled chicken to go for my wife, and she enjoyed it.

The Dunes House is our favorite family friendly restaurant in Hilton Head. We ate there 4 times during our one week stay. The location is incredible being directly on the beach and the food and service is amazing! The food and service kept us coming back because many of the other places we tried on the island had terrible food and service (especially the places belonging to a large restaurant group). They brought our kids little cups of goldfish when we were seated which is such a nice touch for hungry kids. You must try The Dunes House Burger made with local pimento cheese. The fish tacos are also delicious- some of the best I’ve ever had. We can’t wait to eat there again on our next vacation!
