What this church has given my wife and I is family. We were forced to move to Virginia because of work circumstances which we were unhappy about. I grew up in the church my entire life but never truly understood a "church family" until we began attending LCCA. My faith grew so much stronger being in such a loving, biblically focused church. I cannot thank the members of LCCA enough for the treatment towards my wife and I. Ryan is an amazing Pastor who always upheld what the bible calls for. Ryan's messages are inspiring, and truthful. I could go on and on about how much I loved my time at Life Community Church Alexandria. If you are looking for an honest church that will take you in as family than I highly recommend checking this place first.

10/10 would recommend. I used to go to MBC and was apprehensive about trying a smaller church. These fears were totally unfounded—this is a solid church. The messages are biblical, the people are super friendly (even the non-greeters!), and it’s easy to get involved. Coming from a megachurch, I especially value that the pastors know who I am.

As a military family we really enjoy the strong fellowship and friendliness here. Our first Sunday here we were approached by multiple people saying hello and inviting us to small group. Pastor Ryan and Pastor Reed are knowledgeable and compassionate in the faith. I truly feel like God is working through Life Community in big ways and small ways. We are thankful to be apart of this church!

This is our first time going to a smaller church, and we love it! The pastor, elders, and all the members are welcoming and friendly. The Word of God is taken seriously here, and the hard stuff is not shied away from! This church preaches a healthy mix of both Gospel hope and repentance. We've gotten to know many of the members and leadership quickly, but they never pressured us to become members or made us feel guilty if we didn't attend for some weeks. Definitely recommend if you want a more close church family that shares the Good News straight up.

Update 4/2023:
Been four years since my original review and we still attend this church! We recently had a Sunday school class where Pastor Ryan talked through evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. Fantastic! Pastor Ryan is really familiar with Christian apologetics (logical reasoning for the Christian faith), so both my husband and I have learned a lot from him about that topic which has strengthened our faith.

As a military family, we often find ourselves searching for a new church home. After looking for several months, we happened upon Sunset Hills. The pastor is so engaging and welcoming. The congregation is friendly but not overbearing. The message is always applicable and non-judgmental (a rarity in most churches). We felt right at home at this church.

God is doing an awesome work through this church! I have never attended a church where the Holy Spirit is as present as it is at Sunset Hills. The people truly love the Lord and are being used by Him to spread the Gospel throughout the world. Pastor Dave Waters is approachable, genuine, and lives what we preaches. The congregation is open and welcoming while the Praise Team is on-point and energetic. Come worship with us and see what God is doing through His people!

We came to Sunset Hills Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA a bit over a year ago. Our family was welcomed right away....not in an overbearing way, but in a genuine, love-of-Christ way. Each of us has had opportunities for real involvement without being pressured. The pastor, Dave Waters, has a true shepherd's heart. The elders put on regular activities which build up unity among the members and reach out to the surrounding community. The sermons are Bible based, which is of great importance to my family and to me. We have been surrounded by a Christian family at SHBC and are so glad the Lord led us to worship & grow here.
