I recently visited this coffee place mainly because I'd heard great things about their coffee – which, to be fair, did not disappoint. However, the overall experience left much to be desired.
I ordered a sandwich and avocado toast alongside my coffee. As expected from a downtown, high-end coffee shop, the prices were steep, but I was willing to overlook that for a quality experience. Unfortunately, the service was a major letdown. The staff member who took our order didn’t bother to ask if we wanted to eat in or take out. We clearly intended to dine in, but there was no clarification or follow-up.
After about 15 minutes of waiting, our order was called – only for us to be handed our food in a takeaway bag by a not so polite staff member. It was both confusing and a bit rude, as they assumed we'd want to take our food to go without asking. A simple check with us could have avoided this awkward situation.
To make matters worse, the food didn’t live up to the price.
All in all, while the coffee was good, the poor service made for a less-than-ideal experience. Definitely not worth it.

Blue Bottle Coffee offers a sleek, minimalist space to enjoy high-quality coffee and a light meal along the Chicago River. Known for its dedication to single-origin brews, Blue Bottle provides an elevated coffee experience for those who appreciate expertly crafted drinks. Their coffee menu includes unique options like the black cardamom latte and the refreshing shakerato, each packed with nuanced flavors that set Blue Bottle apart. While prices are on the higher side, the quality justifies the expense for coffee aficionados.
For breakfast, the avocado toast and breakfast sandwich are simple yet satisfying choices, made with fresh ingredients that match the coffee’s refined standards. The waffle is another standout, pairing perfectly with their single-origin coffees for a light but indulgent treat. Blue Bottle’s patio offers a prime spot for people-watching along the river, and the indoor seating is comfortable and laptop-friendly, making it a great spot for remote work or studying.

So the coffee is good, loved the pour overs but felt something missing.. Location is awesome. Love to sit outside. Long wait so be prepared. Just bit disappointed as my son ordered hot chocolate and they forgot it and had to wait long time to find my order and make it.
First time going to a Blue Coffee Café. This one has a minimalistic feel to it, just like an Apple store. Clean lines and great tasting coffee. They have a variety of coffee from around the world and good seating inside or out with a beautiful view of downtown Chicago.
Blue Bottle has a sprawling footprint (compared to most coffee shops) with lots of natural light, high ceilings, and a cool sound system.
I’m a big fan of the prosciutto breakfast sandwich that’s reminiscent of “jambon burre” in Paris.
If you don’t beat the crowd, it might take a bit longer to get your hands on that coveted coffee.
That aside, great place to visit with amazing views of Chicago on the river!

I liked the ice nola a lot! It was a nice, chill place to read or focus and I also spotted some people working on their laptops. When I arrived there were no outside seatings but they had a comfortable seating area with glass corners facing the bridge and had great views. I took a bunch of pictures here since it was so pretty. Definitely recommend to take nice pics here or bring a book to read.
I recently visited Blue Bottle Coffee and had a mixed experience. I ordered the Lemon Yuzu Fizz, hot Nola, and a cappuccino☕️
The place was clean, and the service was quick. The room temperature was comfortable, which made the visit pleasant🤗 However, I found the prices to be a bit expensive for the quality of the drinks. While the beverages were decent, they didn't quite justify the higher price point.
Overall, it was an okay experience, but I expected a bit more in terms of drink quality for the cost.
