Sad that such a monument gets let go and can't be visited. My husband, our 5 kids, and I climbed all the way to the top. The kids' first time there, so excited that it was actually unlocked today. We got all the way to the top and couldn't come out of the stairwell because it is invested with HUNDREDS of wasps. It's not safe, and it was so disappointing. Still got a good workout, though 😆.

Such an interesting place. Lots to read and look at. Would love to go back and spend more time.

Love going to the battlefield for weekly runs and bike rides. We love meeting here due to the bathroom accessibility and easy access. The tower is an excellent piece of history to explore if you are checking out the battlefield. Definitely worth the visit.

Great stop in the park. Can climb to the top if you like little steps. Other beautiful monuments around this tower also.

The Wilder Brigade Monument, also known as the Wilder Tower.
It was built in honor of the Lightning Brigade, under command of John T. Wilder (Union Army).

We had time to kill before we could check in to our cabin so I found this place on Google Maps. It was such a huge place and I can’t imagine the history here. It puts your thoughts into perspective walking grounds where so many lost their lives. The tower was exceptionally taller than I expected. Going up the stairs was quite a hike but the view at top was worth it.
You’re better off making sure you don’t have to use the restroom there. It’s pretty much a smelly outhouse with no sink or trash can. In fact, I couldn’t find a garbage can anywhere that I walked.

Been here many times. To get to the top of this 85-foot tower, you must climb the 136-step spiral staircase, that for some seems to never end. But the view once on top is totally worth it! It’s a really cool location for family pictures, or just enjoying the scenery. Definitely a cool place to check out if you’re looking for something to do!
