A very nice memorial to the veterans. It’s clean and well maintained. Easy wheelchair access.

This is one of the better falls in the area because it’s completely free and not too strenuous of a hike to get to. The trail is slightly more than a half mile to get to the first fall. Cherokee Falls and Hemlock Falls were approximately 800 steps on mostly steep grated metal stairs. Glen Falls was roughly 100 steps on natural rock stairs and some wooden and dirt packed stairs. There were many lifted rocks and roots so it’s definitely ground you have to pay attention to walking on but much less effort than other falls in the area.

There are some neat rock formations and climb throughs. There’s a lot to see! We went after the rain and had the entire trail and place to ourselves. We did t see a single person there around 7pm. I was able to find a little salamander and see the many fireflies in late June. One of the highlights of our trip.

Stopped in for lunch on our way through town from Florida. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich and brisket plate. The fries were better than the tots. Chicken salad was good but the bread it was on was very thick. The food choices were pretty big and seems like most people would be able to find something on the menu. If you want to order to go food then you go into the ice cream shop on the right.

We had time to kill before we could check in to our cabin so I found this place on Google Maps. It was such a huge place and I can’t imagine the history here. It puts your thoughts into perspective walking grounds where so many lost their lives. The tower was exceptionally taller than I expected. Going up the stairs was quite a hike but the view at top was worth it.

You’re better off making sure you don’t have to use the restroom there. It’s pretty much a smelly outhouse with no sink or trash can. In fact, I couldn’t find a garbage can anywhere that I walked.

Beautiful spot to take in the views! The drive was easy and the weather was beautiful. We went right about sunset time.
