pretty but rough around the edges, the home of Puccini.

Easy to miss but I thought this quiet little piazza was worth a short detour. Piazza Cittadella was home to the famous composer Giacomo Puccini, whose residence has now been turned into a museum complex.
In the square, you'll find a statue of Puccini and a couple cafes. Inside Puccini Museum are priceless objects like the piano where he used to compose some of his early work as well as paintings, photographs, sketches, and signed scores.

In the center of the square is a large bronze statue of Puccini and on three sides are cafes named after Puccini operas and a wonderful museum devoted to the composer housed in his birthplace.

Also here is the ticket office of Puccini Museum where the carriages of the maestro used to pass, and also has a few shops as well. Piazza Cittadella has been a place full of commercial activities and since then there have been various shops, restaurants and vendors who cater to the service of the tourists. In the square, is Osteria Tosca that has garden and is in front of the statue of Puccini and offers some of the best food in Lucca and great wines.
