Modern yet rustic at the same time inside.
Service was *slow*. There was an aperitif menu on the table which the waitress asked if we'd seen, we ordered some drinks, they came and we still did not have a food menu.
Starters took 40 minutes and mains another 45 after that. Would not recommend for a quick spot to eat.
Sadly had heard good things but it was a little pricey for what we got also. Would maybe return in the summer as there is apparently a lovely garden.

Gasthaus Scherz is a great find for Austrian cuisine in Cologne!
The service is great - the staff are very nice and attentive to your needs.

» Comment: The kitchen has apparently modernized the menu: Although you can still order some of the classics - which I often found quite hearty - there are now also some lighter, "fresher" and presumably lower-calorie dishes on offer.
Overall, I would rate the food as very good and the price-performance ratio as excellent.

Amazing food, great staff. Definitely recommend. Will 100% go there again next time I’m in Cologne
Food is good but not many choices.
Stumbled upon this place, and so glad we did. Food and service excellent. Serving traditional Austrian food. The level of cooking was the best I have had in my many visits to Köln. Will definitely be back.
