Shame on organisation of this world famous sightseeing. Can't get if you haven't bought tickets in advance. They force you to participate in the lottery throwing 10 tickets every 20 minutes near the entrance for a crowd of people like you. Humilation! Shame Ministry of Turismo!

My boyfriend and I joined the Vesuvius 1000 route under the stars, and it was incredible! Stefano, our guide, was so passionate and knowledgeable, making the journey through the nature, myths, and legends of Vesuvius unforgettable. To charge you to go up a natural site and only have 10 spaces per hour or two, just absolutely sad to realise once we got there. Vesuvius still was majestic and beautiful anyhow. 🔝💯

Be advised, buy tickets at least 1-2 weeks before, because they only release 10 tickets every 10 minutes and they are gone within 2 seconds, which makes it almost impossible to get one. We unfortunetly couldn't get tickets, but we went on an alternative route, which took about 40 minutes each way, that went around the volcano, and it was still very beautiful. There is also a 3 hour route, which takes you through a valley covered in hardened lava

Beautiful view you gotta be physical prepare to go walk in this place. More important thing purchased your ticket before you go to the place.

Incredible views. Only advice, plan ahead and book earlier (last tickets are around 3:30pm). You need to purchase tickets online before going up (no internet reception) which are around 11 euro each.

If driving, head to the top and staff will navigate you to park your car and you will need to pay 3 euro each for a shuttle bus up the remaining way (this includes a return trip). Once at the top, you scan your tickets and begin the hike.

The hike itself is short but steep, took us around 45 minutes (up and back) after the shuttle.
