Called the Royal Ottawa today for help w a family member. Was better off not calling at all. Was told to call the justice of a peace and HUNG UP ON the first time. Called back and asked if they had any numbers to call or resource centres to reach. Was told by the woman on the phone that she wasn’t a city operator and to call 3-1-1. Worst service ever! Great to know when someone is suffering that these are the people in charge of how well they are delivered their services.

I guess all the donations and fundraiser’s for this place are completely useless because they could clearly go to better mental health causes. Absolutely trash! Please! Canada start taking mental health serious ! We need services now more than ever ! People are suffering and not receiving proper care. Hiring people that can’t be empathetic at a centre like this is outrageous ! Asked if there was anyone I could speak to and she blatantly said no and then proceeded to reluctantly patch me through to a line that she believed wouldn’t answer. Put me through to the outpatient line. Please hire people with emotional iq in places like this or at least people that want to do their job.

To hang up on someone before they are finished speaking is rude. Now take into account that this lady works for a mental health emergency service.

Was kicked out because nurses listened to my conversation with others after I was mistreated. Then lied to the doctor and said I was aggressive which I have never been once in my life. Doctor wouldn’t listen to me and already had her mind made up. Staff mixed up medicine all the time. 3 times in 7 days. There is a reason for a 3.3 rating. Lost 6 pds in 6 days from lack of food but that was okay.

My friend went here for help- and he died less than 24 hours later in there "care." Go anywhere but here for treatment ! The story is in other reviews and photo attached is a screenshot of the story/review also. I'd give 0 stars If I could.

If I could give negative starts I would!! If you love your family or friends… do not bring them here to be detoxed… they do not put any type of monitor on patients detoxing from any substance use… even when notified that every immediate family member has heart issues (wholes in hearts, murmurs and PVC)…

My brother Brandon, checked into the Royal Ottawa on Tuesday Aug 6th, after receiving a referral from the General Hospital to go to the RAAM Clinic.

I was with him, I packed his belongings, I drove him…. I sat in the room while he did his intake and disclosed the substances he abused and his routine with them… I was in the room when the Dr. Disclosed that it can be dangerous to detox off alcohol… “it can make your heart stop”. Before the Dr left to see about an detox bed for my brother I disclosed the heart issues to her… thinking they would take extra precautions with my brother detoxing from dangerous drugs and alcohol….. I left my brother there on Aug 6th thinking he was safe! It was around 11am when I left with a sense of relief thinking my brother was not only safe but getting the help he needed… Not even 24hrs later, on Aug 7th my brother “was found unresponsive” upon the morning check at 7-7:30am…. not once did he have any type of monitor on him to notify nurses if something was wrong…

The coordinator of the program, Mike, confirmed to me that putting patients on monitors while detoxing from dangerous substances is “Not part of the protocol” Mike has been the director of the RAAM clinic for 27years and has never had monitors as part of the protocol for substance abuse detox, and when asked why they weren’t part of the protocols, there was no answers given.

This place is extremely dangerous!!! Please don’t bring family here to die!!

The royal ottawa hospital is absolutely amazing! I have 0 ZERO complaints at all about the quality of care the staff the cleanliness of the building EVERYTHING. I became an out patient with the royal ottawa hospital back in 2016 and I was in BAD shape.. terrible mental health concurrent disorders you name it and I'm still working on many things but for the most part I'm living a fulfilling life and it's all because of my nurse practitioner, my social worker, my psychiatrist and everyone in-between. I have absolutely amazing things to say about the RAMM addiction center as well that got me off of street opioids and being properly monitored by 5 star physicians while in RAMM and now at OATC. and I'm proud to admit and share with everyone reading this that today is my 180th day of absolutely complete sobriety and abstinence from everything down to marijuana and cigarettes (I still nicotine vape if I REALLY crave)

And it ALL started with the royal ottawa hospital. To anyone from the hospital reading this and recognize my name just know that you saved a life and your saving more lives everyday! I love and appreciate you all thank you so much!

i dont know what these former/current patients are talking smack about?! as a visitor i thought this hospital was decent... no long cafe lines...in fact the cafe was friggggin dead. no one around save for the odd worker... and that pretty much gives you freedom to unzip with many feet of empty space in your radius. id go back there many times for that pleasure alone! but then you throw in the odd mad scientist and weird chems?! omfg... *drooooool* royal ottawa was made for Kings. I wouldnt go myself... but hey if you want a nice fenced in backyard? they got a few! no barbed wire either so yer free to try your hand at carnival acts to escape!

The royal ottawa aproaches mental health with a very old style of thinking that emphasizes a focus on medication (only), and theyre goal is to make you think your sick so you be on perscriptions for a very long time. I followed up many many times with asking for a psychologist to no avail. I followed up many many times asking to participate in groups to no avail. My spirituality was dismissed and thrown out the window. My identity was reduced to nothing for than a delusional behavior which gave my narcisistic family more fuel to oust me completly into the shadows. This organization has done nothing more for me than set me back and destroy my sense of self. The women working here are so tired of being in the profession that their empathy is gone. Kindness is used as a tool to dismiss the real challenges that patients are facing. They think they know whats what and act superior to you. They treat you like a lab rat with tones of elitism. In my opinion, i think that a lot of them might racists and maybe even eugenicists that prefer women only.

Psychiatrist never refered me to a social worker working there, hates gay people, the list goes on and on and on... somebody needs to shut this place down for good. Breeding some horrible culture in Ottawa, the capital city of canada
