Coffee Colombo

The food is really nice.. but gravy portion, you need to pay extra to get more gravy if you want. This is absurd, and it's the only restaurant we have been that asked us to pay an additional amount for asking more gravy. If it's a curry, I understand, but it's the gravy for pittu.. and of course, we eat a lot of gravy with pittu. And the initial portion comes with very little amount of curry that you anyway have to buy the second one because it's not enough.

Same time, no gravy for chicken koththu, and when we asked, they said its already mixed with the koththu. I believe that's the case everywhere, but still, they give gravy to koththu.

The food is nice but the service is bad. When we were ordering, we asked for warm water, but we had to remind them to get it served.

I tried jaffna crab curry and pittu. It served hot but taste was not good. There were no other options on that day( rice menu). I tried masala chai also. It was great and refreshing. Prices are reasonable.

If you're a foodie like me, especially with a penchant for Pittu and Crab, this place is a hidden gem that deserves your attention. I decided to dive right into their menu and opted for their signature dish, the Jaffna CRAB Masala paired with White Pittu. Let me tell you, it was an authentic delight. I also sampled a few other items from their menu. The Toast Bread With Sambol was a delightful start to the meal, offering a burst of flavors in each bite. I tried the Lychee Mojito, which was refreshing and a great thirst-quencher. However, I must admit that, as a Chai lover, I had high expectations for their Masala Chai. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. It lacked the depth and authenticity I was hoping for.

The ambiance of the restaurant is a bit underwhelming; it's not particularly impressive or inviting. Additionally, the music was playing a tad too loudly, which detracted from the overall dining experience. A quieter atmosphere would have made for a more pleasant meal.

First of all the name “Coffee Colombo” doesn’t go with what they serve the most.
The place is very congested and not organized. We were given a table right in front of the lift which was very uncomfortable. The restaurant and reception of the hotel all lies in the same floor so people walk in and out always. The music was too high. It was like walking in to a normal hotel.
The staff were welcoming and friendly but there was one person who was having this rude look and was shouting at the waiters.
The staff were behind taking only Pittu orders which was the fast moving and less interested in taking other orders. They definitely have to improve the service.
Talking about the food it wasn’t that great to the hype I get from people. The portions were too small for the price. The bowl in which the curry was served was chipped on the edge. Overall my experience here was not up to what I expected it to be.
If the coffee shop and the reception of the hotel are separated it would be much better and maintained.

One of the best places to have Jaffna style food.
Tried their pittu with chicken curry, jaffna omlette and the crab and prawn kottu. So delicious!
Portion size is just adequate and reasonable pricing.
It can be spicy, but this is as expected given the cuisine.

Can get crowded at night, but it is worth it to have the food. Staff is friendly and courteous, and do their best to attend to all patrons despite the busy situation.

Very nice and inviting ambience. You feel very welcomed. The only issue is the A/C doesn't work well, so it can get quite warm, but overall an excellent place.

Highly recommend.
