Sweet Basil Cafe of Skokie

Every meal I've had here has been very good, and consistent for those favorites I've had multiple times. The staff is always friendly and attentive, the prices are very reasonable and since it's part of the same building as a large hotel, there are always plenty of parking spaces.

We meet our neighbors of 45 years here about once every month. From the moment you walk in, you just want the menu. Everything that has been ordered has been exceptional from quality to taste to temperature. The servers are amazing and always have our neighbors order ready when they walk in. They don’t even have to order, which is a sign of a great server and also it shows a real sense of caring and community. The neighbors are in their 80’s and are so special to us, as is this restaurant. We can catch up, talk and linger over coffee, which is really a luxury these days. To just sit amd talk, without the harsh server trying to put new people in the seats. Thank you for this.

My husband and I have given this place a few tries and unfortunately the last 2 times we had their food was just awful. The first instance, we ordered a blt and the beef french dip. When we got our food, it smelled so bad as if something was off, lo and behold they had cooked and plated sour beef in the french dip. In the second instance, they wouldn’t refund the cost of an egg dish that came without eggs and the French toast was burnt. I’m not sure what’s going on but the low quality and cost for the food at sweet basil is just not worth it. It’s off our go-to-spots list.

Delicious food and very accommodating staff! We showed up in a large group and the staff was very friendly and helped to find us a larger table. There was a large menu and lots of sweet or savory options. I had the avocado toast and it was well made and a perfect start for the day!

This place is on the ground floor of the hotel but has outside access. Service was quick. Their regular coffee was alright. The menu has a ton of options for all times of the day. I had the cinnamon roll french toast, which I would highly recommend. The I side looks like your standard diner type restaurant. Everyone was very friendly. The prices were about average for everything. If you're in the area looking for a good quick meal I would recommend this place.

Beautiful restaurant! We had buttermilk pancakes and avocado toast. The avocado toast is a must l, with poached eggs, arugula and roasted red peppers. Excellent fresh pressed orange juice as well. This is our new go-to for breakfast in Skokie.❤️

Cute little restaurant right at the hotel I’m staying at. Works out nicely. Pleasant music playing in the background and big, spacious booths. I got the avacado and bacon omelette. Overall not bad. The omelette was a little dense, not very fluffy, but it was thick. Easily an entire avocado on top and inside of the omelette. They put tomato in the omelette which coupled with the melted cheese made the omelette super messy and runny. Crispy hash browns and buttered toast on the side. Delicious meal served super quick!
