Gobong Samgyetang

Ginseng chicken soup seems to be popular. Not as satisfying as I hoped. Broth has really thick consistency, light taste. Not strong ginseng flavor. Portions are good though

We left immediately after being forced to order 4 dishes as we were a group of 4. Bad customer policy.

Wanted to try some samgyetang when in Korea and Tosokchun's lineup seemed crazy. So saved this meal for someplace close in the myeongdong area. This was in the 2nd floor of a mall, decently easy to navigate. The samgyetang was quite good, ordered both kinds and it comes with like a ginseng shot. The soup is a little on the thicker side. You will need to add salt according to your taste.

Ginseng Chicken Soup with a whole mini chicken in it! There's glutinous rice inside the chicken too. The soup is thicker than we are used to but tasty. You put your own salt in to adjust the taste. The chicken pancake was interesting with a honey glaze on top.

The 삼계탕 (chicken stew) was very hearty and thick. The flavor was deep and clean with a variety of 반찬 (side dishes). The chicken was very tender and fell off the bone without being overstewed and mushy. The chicken is filled with a sweet rice, jujube, ginger. They have salt and pepper seasoning available at the table. We also ordered a 파전 (seafood pancake) that was the perfect crispness and not too heavy or greasy. Highly recommend both.

Ginseng soup is very comforting and subtle in flavor. Chicken tender and falls off the bone. Pajeon is absolutely massive, the size of a regular pizza I’d say and crispy for a short period of time. Great side dishes. Enjoyed more than I thought I would. Go early and avoid the queue

I was trying to find a decent samgyetang place around the Myeongdong area, and stumbled upon this restaurant. I was incredibly pleased with the find.

We ordered the recommended sanghwang samgyetang and a seafood pancake to share for two pax. the samgyetang was very rich and flavourful, and the amount of chicken in the soup was generous. Definitely one of the best I've tasted. The pancake was equally big (like a 12 inch pizza), and tasted delicious with the accompanying sauce . We could barely finish both dishes even though both dishes were great.

If you are in the Myeongdong area and want to try out samgyetang, don't miss out on this eatery!

Good and different from usual ginseng chicken soup. It has thick soup tender meat off the bone chicken. We didnt drink the cup of ginseng wine but poured into the soup before digging in.
