Nice day to walk around the ruins, and a path leads to a campsite and beach
I went to the MWR at Fort Wadsworth and it was great! I was attended to very quickly for military Disney ticket vouchers. I would definitely go back.

Amazing views of the New York harbor and Verrazano Narrows bridge
It's a hidden mini-getaway on the Island. Many don't venture over to that side because it's not much over there to attract a crowd. Which is perfect for somebody like myself who appreciates solitude. With the weather breaking and the smog clearing, I'd suggest bringing a bike and exploring the park. I did. I had a few dates there over the years. One included me giving bike riding lessons. Go during Sunrise or Sunset. The views you'll never forget. I know I haven't.
