Hotel Riu Plaza España

We absolutely love this hotel!!! The rooftop bar and pool have the best views. Excellent breakfast. The only issue is that the room doesn't vent well, but you can at least open the windows a crack.

For amazing views of Madrid, you must set aside some time to go up to the rooftop of this hotel. You may want to go twice: once for daylight views and one for night views. The place is stunning for dining, some drinks, some tapas, or just hanging out with friends while you catch the sunset and the amazing views this hotel has to offer. Don't miss the glass floor for a picture of you and the ground level floor. Prices are good. The ticket to go up is 5 Euros during the daytime, and 10 Euros at night time. Lovely!

Huge hotel located in central Madrid. Former 27 stories office block converted into a hotel . The room are fairly spacious and well appointed. Due to the size of the hotel check in lines are long. The process is highly inefficient. We checked in online but still had to wait ages upon arrival. There aren’t enough lifts and there is always a queue. There is one restaurant serving expensive poor quality tapas. Service is very slow and bad. Except for the view this restaurant is to be avoided. There is a very very small swimming pool on the 21st floor with very limited seating and very bad service. The roof top bar offer stunning views . However it is opened to external guests and always crowded. The floor is littered with cigarettes nuts and paper this place is disgusted. Overall this hotel is poorly managed, service is bad.

Lovely hotel, pool is a small with very few beds, it takes an age to get served and they get really funny about bringing your own water bottles as well as walking anywhere with drinks. Lifts also aren’t great and the staff at the bar areas aren’t very friendly. Amazing views though

This hotel is very nice and in a prime location for restaurants and shopping. People can pay to go to the rooftop who don’t stay at the hotel so it gets very busy. It would better to have a space just for the guest. The drinks were good, I had a traditional old fashioned.

The breakfast is buffet style and the quality of the food was not the greatest. Out side of the breakfast, I do recommend this hotel. As long as you don’t mind the traffic into hotel.

We were at the bar on top of the hotel. The view is outstanding. There is no bar in madrid higher and more beautiful than there. If you are not a hotel guest you have to buy a 10€ ticket. The cocktails were good. It can be very hot at the bar, because there are not a lot of parasols out there.

Group of six stayed here in mid June. Had three standard rooms.

The good:
-location is great
-check in was easy
-rooms modern
-rooftop bar access with hotel stay, with cool glass bridge
-breakfast buffet is excellent

The bad:
-rooms small
-my room did not have shower towels upon arrival, only hand towels. Housekeeping oversight
-another member of my group found men’s underwear in the room safe. Another housekeeping oversight

Overall a decent stay in a great location with great breakfast.
