Whoever designed benches around the courts is a genius.

These tennis courts are very easily accessible from anywhere. Ample citi bike spots and close to many subway lines.
Courts are free to use though there is a sign up sheet that fills up very fast. If you want to play without waiting forever, go early in the morning or late in the evening.
Some of the courts have dead patches and despite being hard courts, they are quite slow but then they are free!
A good place for beginners and non pros.

The courts are nice but it's ridiculously hard to get a court there. I went there on a Friday morning around 6:45 am and there was already a long line in front of the sign-up sheet.
Packed soul summit was out there djin a musuc festival..which includes house music and disco classics..come out to dance and rejoice and release yourself.. dance dance dance...enjoy..the next one is Aug 7 2022 3 til 8

used to be a great place to pick up a game, but with everything gentrified now its turn into a country club by the tennis association who prefill out court rime on the sheets for their friends all day that you cant get a court. really horrible .I am reaching out to the parks department to look into this....if you are not on their mailing list or inner circle you almost cant get a court on this "public" court

I was really looking forward to playing here but the experience was laughably awful. The reservation system is absurd. You cannot reserve online or by phone. It says on the website you need to physically go there at 7:30am when a signup sheet becomes available. So despite this being incredibly inconvenient, I made the ~35 min commute to get there at 7:30am because I really wanted to play. I signed up for a time on the sheet, but when I went back later in the day for my time slot, the sheet that was posted on the board was different from the one I had been handed on the clipboard that morning. It was not that I had made a mistake; there was a whole group of us who had also signed up for that time standing around wondering what had happened. At some point during the day they apparently just scrapped the sign up sheet and started a new one or someone had erased our names. I don't know. There appeared to be no one working at the courts who we could talk to to try and figure out what had happened. So all told I spent over 2 hours in commuting (once to sign up and then again to go back for my nonexistent reservation) that day to sign up for a court on a sheet that they decided to chuck out. We had no recourse or anyone we could even talk to. The "reservation" system is comically awful enough as it is without them periodically just scrapping our reservations that we got up early to go make. I hope whoever is in charge of running this place can find a competent adult to take over.
