Hempstead Public Library

I would appreciate if the staff in the computer room would smile, offer assistance, and be friendly. The computer staff always have a chip on there shoulders. I don’t know what it is but it seems like they are always kind of arrogant. They will help you but in an unfriendly way. The front desk cashiers are like the only nice people in the library.

Great library very helpful staff all around

The staff is very pleasant. I totally agree with said comment: "The African American (Chris) is amazing ". We would have been totally lost without him.

I love the place, and the staff very helpful. Some things I did not know and they helped me a lot. The person who attended me at the window was friendly, including the security person.

We were in the children's section and there were 3 librarians and we were the only customers. They had children's masks for the kids. The librarians set the kids up on educational programs and the kids loved it. They are having progems in Kennedy Park Wednesdays from 11 am to 2 pm.

This is one of my local favorites. It's easy to reserve library books online and pick them up. Last I checked they have Curbside Pickup. They have a wealth of resources on their website. You can read digital magazines, Ebooks and view other media.
You can learn a new language and learn new crafts! Take the time to dig.
A hidden gem is their Museum Pass selection. They have passes to local museums and attractions. You need to register in advance. They don't have as many passes as other libraries but it's a good start. It's good to get the family involved in upcoming events and if you sign up for the Newsletter they'll email you each month.
DISLIKE: Computers are available for 1 hour only per day. There will be a timer that counts down time you have left. If you're in the middle of an important computer session (like I was) the computer will eventually sign you out and you won't be able to Login for the rest of the day. I'm sure it's to prevent people from being on the computer ALL day but if you're working on something time sensitive and need extra time you are put at a disadvantage.

Always clean. The front desk aren't always nice when entering especially if you need direction. Sometimes you have to let them finish talking about their personal business and will give attitude sometimes if you interrupt their personal conversation for getting that they are at work not on break. However the people that are in the Adult Computer Department, they are ALWAYS super friendly and very helpful. If I need help, what I like about this libary is that they don't give up fast to brush you off when they are having a hard time finding a solution. If they really cant help, they refer you to another near by libary. I really do appreciate the computer department and all that they do for us. Thank you.! 😉

The library needs technological improvement, as well as 100% computers update, a better Wi-Fi and quite more time assigned to work with. People in need cannot make properly their taxes in one hour, but as me l almost make it taking me 2 days to spend 2 hours on it.
Safety is right, and people working on front desk are extremely kind, and helpful, just l hope things change for good and the New York Education System or the U.S. A. Government give the real support to these culture and education facilities.
