This place is inhumane.
There is no AC and it so hot that my baby keep opening the fridge.
No elevator
No laundry room
This place is horrible. How do they expect people with kids to live like this!???!
One plus-The staff is nice

My family first came here 22 years ago today, it was February 22, 2000 when we arrived late at night just before midnight. We was on the 1st floor and the unit was small, so we have to spilt up to another unit on the same floor. To me it was not temporary, we were only there for 3 weeks. Until being transfered to another shelter in the same neighborhood that I grew up here. It was a complete 360 even though it was right next to Brownsville. Other than that they have help us as much as they possibly could. One of my favorite activity book that was provided involving a character named max. It was about a boy who is also in the family shelter. It has some good illustrations but it was informative saying what to expect at the family shelter. I keep it long after we left, but up until around 2003 I lost it, I really want to read that book again. Overall the surroundings was mostly quiet the whole time we were there.

MY NAME IS VENEICIA, MS GRAY MY SOCIAL WORKER STUCK BY ME THROUGH THICK AND THIN SHE WAS ON TOP OF ME LIKE WHITE ON RICE, I WENT INTO WOODRUFF FAMILY RESIDENCE MARCH OF 2019 AND MARCH OF 2020 I WAS SELECTED FOR NY NYCHA APARTMENT MS GRAY IS SURE TO LEAD YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION MY DAUGHTER NOW LOVES HER LIKE A GRANDMOTHER NOT ONLY IS MS GRAY A WORKER BUT SHE ALSO BECOME A VERY GREAT FRIEND 🖤

I love my stay in this shelter. I've been here for 4 months and the experience is great. Miss Gray and Miss Britney are the best. Very friendly and loving. They make you feel like you belong and like you have a family. They do their best to help. The security guards are friendly too.

I was in this shelter with my daughter this past June and this was not my first shelter experience but best by far. Im grateful for all the staff including security to maintain and social services Department. My case worker was miss Gray and i was treated the same way i treated her. She has a very kind heart and special love for all the children. She was understanding to all our needs and concerns always. She was straight forward about what she needed to do as well as what i needed to do about exiting the shelter into to our new home. I did what she said if not more and in less then for months me and my daughter are finally in our own apartment and grateful for all the love we received from woodruff family residence staff and all of Brooklyn. I have read reviews and i highly disagree with negative comments on any current staff member employed there. No matter where you are in life and what you do you will be treated the way you treat people and as far as the roaches are concerned that's anywhere you go i worked in restaurants and dined in the best steak house guess what they got roaches too so buy some raid and move forward with your priorities. I was in a shelter infested with mice i did what i had to do and moved on. I wanted to thank everyone for being so caring and not only did i get a home we gain some really wonderful strong woman as friends for ever. Much love from the polinskie girls.

Yes this is a shelter. A couples shelter that is ran under the most disrespectful personnel I have ever known. These people dont play fare at all knowing that others lively hood are at stake. Your just a case to them, nothing more or less. And its best to stay in good graces of the workers while you are there or they will retaliate.

Mad roaches and water bugs in the room and in the hallway was here for a year almost and it was the wrost experience ever for me in my room was like living in hell because of the roaches and water bugs they did exterminate for roaches and fix the holes in my room where the waterbug was coming from so the problem was fixed had to cover my door with sheets and other things or else they will come in my room from the hallway the cleaning staff and janitors was really nice washed your sheets give you cleaning products security was cool there was a lot drama and fights in here as well lots of inspection the room are pretty scapious hated that there was no elevator here case workers didn't stay long it was some cool people here huge shopping area on flatbush ave and prospect park is around here too used to do my running there my case worker was cool and helped me find a job and housing
