I love visiting mansions especially during Christmas times. This time we went on a gloomy day. You feel the history there. It wasn’t crowded at all. And you can’t take your time walking around the rooms. It’s very beautiful when they have Christmas decorations but also the lines appear.

The main reason we stopped in Newport and it didn't disappoint. One of the most beautiful mansions I've visited with fantastic architecture that is extremely well maintained. The history of the house is fascinating and the staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help. The document for the self guided tour is well written and easy to follow. Overall great experience and would highly recommend.

I went here for the first time not knowing at all what to expect, I left absolutely loving the tour I took. The mansion is breathtaking to look at inside and out. The decor and views are wonderful to look at . The crowds were not too bad considering there was a cruise ship in port with tours in the area. I definitely recommend walking the whole grounds and doing the cliff walk behind the mansion as well as it has breathtaking views of the coast and other mansions.

🌳Beautiful Landscapes, Ocean View, and Interior🌳

The Breakers is like stepping into a fairy tale. I couldn't help but be reminded of the ballroom in Beauty and the Beast when I entered the interior. Words really don't do justice where pictures will serve, so I've taken and attached several. However, even these fail to capture the full scale and splendor of the mansion. It truly has to be experienced in person.

Due to the various stories of the mansion, you'll be climbing several flights of stairs (but elevators are included in places for convenience). There's a complementary audio-guided tour that you can download on your phone if you'd like to be given a little insight on each room you experience. Lovers of art, history, anthropology, and nature will be in for a real treat.

The outdoors features a walk through the mansion grounds, all in sight of a stunning view of the ocean. You can also walk the length of the ocean down to the 40 Steps location.

If you're trying to choose between the various mansions, The Breakers is one I'd *highly* recommend you consider. Having been to the Biltmore in Asheville, I was reminded very much of it while touring the Breakers (only Breakers has personality and splendor all its own - smaller but no less ornate and opulent).

This was mansion number two of three that I had a chance to visit while staying in Newport. This mansion, just like The Elms, is breathtakingly beautiful inside, and the architecture is spectacular. Make sure you download the "Newport Mansion" app if you are doing a self guided tour, so you can get details about each room and the people (the Vanderbilts) that lived in the mansion many years ago. Once you are done with the tour, you end up in the gift shop where you can find plenty of great gift ideas. The grounds surrounding the mansion are nice but not as impressive as The Elms, in my opinion. Overall, this place is definitely worth checking out and should be added on your list to do while visiting the area.

We went through the mansion as it was included in a group tour we were doing of the area. This is a self guided tour using either an app that you download or reading a pamphlet. Very opulent mansion owned by the Vanderbilt's. You walk through many of the rooms and see their way of life. Leave time to walk around the outside because the gardens are beautiful. Also, look at the incredible designs under the outside patios

A really gorgeous place that’s quick to tour without the audio guide. I walked through in about an hour and really took my time to look at everything. The ceilings are gorgeous and you can see the historical impressions in the walls and columns. The view outside is gorgeous especially at the upper level of the house. There’s this huge level that overlooks the water and it is gorgeous.

Sadly, it’s blocked off by red rope. I understand the safety reasons for it since it’s a huge open wall to the water, but it was disappointing how far back the rope was. Otherwise, I got a good video of everything.

At the end there’s a little gift and souvenirs shop that’s a bit on the pricey side, but ofc it goes into maintaining this great community space. So it’s worth a little something to take home.
