Really pretty store with lots of great merchandise that was reasonably priced.

While this store had really cute decor and home goods, the elderly manager lady behind the counter was quite possibly one of the most unfriendly people I have ever encountered.
I love this store and have been going my whole life. I went this summer and the older woman with square glasses at the register was very unfriendly. I tried to ask advice for a gift to bring to a dinner party and she would not engage in conversation or help me in anyway. I felt very unwelcome and when I went a second time with my neice she noticed that the same woman was talking to a younger woman who worked there who looked afraid of her. My neice commented when we left that she was rude and the young girl looked afraid of her. I acknowledge the prestige of the store but I don't think that gives license to being unwelcoming to customers. It goes against the spirit of the pineapple.
When in downtown Newport head over to The Mansions Store, they offer a variety of items, including books, knick knacks, home item and so much more.
I got some great books and a beautiful trinket box from here as a keepsake of my visit to the mansions. They have decorative pieces that are very well made.
At recent visit to Newport, 1st time tour of The Breakers & its gift shop..Being an unabashed feminist, I could barely stop myself fm overbuying the capacity of my luggage with all the suffragette offerings: literature, high quality pro-women & nautical themed home items. Could it be that my coffee tastes better from a Votes for Women cup/saucer? LOL. Yes, I think so!
