One of the oldest cathedrals in old San Juan a must see!!!
Beautiful small quiet chuch. Very friendly staff. We went to pray during our cruise stop ( very close to the cruise port) and felt so welcomed.
Beautiful old church. They were saying mass while we were there so did not get to explore the church as much as I would have liked to. Have a nice giftshop that also sells bottled cold water.
The courtyard out from outlines the location of the original church, with the location of the altar and other notable spots engraved into the cobblestone. The church was moved due to the common Catholic action of stuffing the walls with dead bodies in order to be close to the alter. It stunk. The compacted the bodies had a ceremony and moved the church into the building behind, also used as a crypt. In a large catholic, military city enclosed in walls, where else would you go? Hallowed ground to say the least.
Beautiful old church and monastery. Had a awesome nativity scene. They were serving coffee and sandwiches to the Homeless on Saturday morning. One of the priests passed away from covid recently sadly
I did go into this building personally. I was able to see it from the outside and enter it inside in due part of it being one of our stops to a tour I did around the Old San Juan area. I need to add, this was a great way to learn about the architecture of Old San Juan building and pass history. I would highly recommend for everyone to look into setting up a tour because it helps you to learn more about the pass history and culture.
Not long here,so my short stay was nice. Found a toilet in a restaurant with a sign in the Irish gaelic language,noting not to throw hand towels down the toilet
