One of the many interesting statues in Central Park is that of the Falconer, situated on the south side of the 72nd Street (transverse road), near The Lake.

The Falconer statue is the work of English Sculptor George Blackwell Simonds and was erected here in 1875. Here you will see a life-size bronze of a male figure in Elizabethan garb. He is holding a falcon which is just about to take flight. The Falconer stands upon a small cylindrical granite pedestal which is perched upon a boulder overlooking the road.

This is interesting statue to see if you plan to spend time in this area of Central Park and enjoy statue and monument viewing during your travels.
