Freshwaters Southern New Orleans

While in Charlotte NC for the Cowboys game. My best friend and I were looking for some good soul. This place came up on my Google search, and I'm glad it did. My friend had the St. Louis rib dinner, with collard greens and yams. The ribs was tender the yams and greens was seasoned to perfection. I had the freshwater fried chicken, with Mac and cheese and red beans and rice. OMG not only was the food amazing, but the atmosphere and service was fit for a God. Ms. Freshwater came out a greeted each customer personal making us feel like family, and the lemonade and sweet tea is a must 👌🏽. If you are ever in Charlotte NC I highly recommend freshwater Southern New Orleans restaurant, this place is worth the money. And no she does not cook her vegetables in pork.

Good soul food! Love mac&cheese. My sister loved juicy well season ribs. My brother really enjoyed the cleaned fresh taste of his fried white fish. Our waiter was patient and Helpful with our first time patron questions. Word to vegetarians...the menu clearly states most things...EVEN veggies cooked in Turkey seasoning. My mac& cheese was not. You'll enjoy a nice, down home cooked meal! peace.

I met up with a friend that I haven’t seen in 2 years to have what I thought would be a good experience based on “The hungry Blackman” review.

We were greeted by the woman owner, she went over the menu and suggested the catfish. The waitress brought out two pieces of corn bread muffins, which were very dry. We both got the catfish, Mac n cheese, and collard greens. The food came out within ten minutes so service was fast.

The catfish was fresh and seasoned but I did not enjoy the taste of it. The greens had an earthy flavor and the Mac n cheese tasted very milky..if that makes sense. In all, I did not enjoy my food.

The waitress kept coming to the table and we felt a bit rushed throughout our dining experience. Once the bill came we were told “I’m sorry but we need this table” it was the most embarrassing moment that I’ve had while dining in a restaurant. I will never return.

My husband and I moved from Wisconsin to Charlotte. It was our first time at Freshwaters. We went last Sunday after church and from the time the owner greeted us it was a wonderful dining experience! The food was delivered promptly and absolutely delicious. I'm mad I forgot to take a picture. We had delicious catfish, shrimp and wonderful sides to choose from. This is a gem in Charlotte you won't regret going ,elegant but, comfortable dining experience we will be back and thank you for your attention to detail.

Mr. & Mrs. Fresh are amazing people whom shows tremendous pride in what they've built.

The food it Top Tier! Everything fresh and homemade with love. In all of my travels, I have never come across another soul food restaurant that can compare to the food at Freshwaters. Everything my husband and I ordered was delicious. Catfish, salmon cakes, BBQ chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese, string beans, candied yams, shrimp cocktail, chocolate cake and peach cobbler. Oh yeah, and Mrs. Fresh makes a mean drink! We are going back again today before our flight.

The food was great. The owner welcomed us to her restaurant and explained the menu and specials. My son ordered the ribs, the meat literally fell off the bone. I had the catfish with yams and string beans. The fish was seasoned good. I will make sure that I come back.

I'm going to say this, for those that say the restaurant is slow, it's true. The food, however, was excellent. The most tender, juicy flake fish and Shrimp combo with red beans and rice, cornbread was great. String beans, not so much. Only the cook and the lady was available early yesterday, but they provided a wonderful meal. The cook actually brought out the food as well. Support this business. They'll all need our support.
