It's a really good place to visit in Rio. It's a local place where different kind of events take places. It's good for lunch during weekdays. It has good party and free local shows of Brazilian music at night.

As everything in downtown Rio, it unfortunately smells like pee, has a slightly dodgy look, but the history behind it is quite rich. The area is hip, cool, but could do with some serious cleaning and basic infrastructure. It's a historical area, so bare that in mind. And it is Rio, so there may be people trying to take advantage of tourists.

It is the start of some narrow streets from the past. If you have ever been to Lisboa, you will realize it is similar to many streets there. Rio was a Portuguese colony. Those streets tells us about this past.
