We had to pass through this tourist trap on the way to the Telum ruins.
While the really do have TONs of telum souvenirs, the hawkers are a little aggressive for a lot of tourists. There is a Starbucks, and there is shade, but there are also guys with mobkeys wanting nothing more than to get you to take a pic so they can charge you whatever they think you can afford. That plus the guys in some sort of Aztec war garb(Telum is Mayan, not Aztec) trying to get you into pics with them was a little much.
All that being said if you know how to polity say no thanks it will all be fine. You don't have to buy... but it is fun to haggle a little if you see something you like.

Good variety but some things are unbelievably expensive, like drinks.

When visiting the ruins of Tulum, you will inevitably pass this souvenir shop. Expect to be approached by traders who want to sell you practically anything. The shop itself is full of various souvenirs and also offers a free Tequila tasting, after which you are almost expected to buy a bottle of tequila. Needless to say, the prices for everything are much higher than those in a supermarket. If you are not looking for any type of souvenirs, simply avoid this shop and bring your own food and drinks with you when visiting the ruins of Tulum.
