Nicht für eine Hochzeitsfeier zu empfehlen. Besprochener und reservierter Hochzeitstermin für eine Ambiente Samstagstrauung wurde ohne Rücksprache für eine Taufe vergeben und abgesagt.

Mi è piaciuto molto il Centro Storico di Colonia, tra i più belli che mi sia capitato di visitare; Chiese, Ristoranti, Negozi, belle Piazze e Monumenti e Palazzi storici; mi è piaciuto osservare tutto nei due giorni in cui ci sono andato.
Great place ! We enjoyed a lot during two days the Christmas market which was organized so well and very beautiful. Decorations and the ambiance was so magic as well for kids and adults. The food makers was chosen so well to present the local traditional food.

The most original Christmas market, makes you feel like you are in a movie! We ice-skated (amateurish) and tasted different snacks. We visited at the end of the first week of January, so it wasn't really crowded.

We visited for the Christmas Market, which was fantastic for food, drinks and activities on the ice. The other part in Altermarkt has the big wheel and bands. There are also some good bars around the square, allowing for people watching

A really buzzing market at this time of year. Loaded with atmosphere but the crowds are not for the faint hearted.

Visited the Christmas Market during the first week of December. Great experience as I was new to Europe/Germany. Definitely a great activity with friends or local acquaintances for cultural immersion. It gets really crowded as the night goes by so plan accordingly.
Neat fountain right in the middle of the old town market.

Toller Hof. Sehr schöne Architektur. Ein Besuch lohnt sich.
Bei unsere Tour in Köln trafen wir einen sehr schönen Platz mit einem eindrucksvollen Brunnen. Der Jan von Werth Brunnen, perfekt hier zu sitzen und sich erholen. Gleich hinter dem Brunnen ist natürlich wieder eine Bierbrauerei Namens von Werth. Klar doch, hier auch ein leckeres Kölsch Bier trinken.
The Jan von Werth Fountain was donated by the Beautification Association in 1884 and built by Wilhelm Albermann on the Alter Markt. The obelisk fountain can be divided into three main parts. Steps and a base with a water basin, two large ones on the front and two on the back, form the lower part. Two smaller pools are accessible via three steps on the left and right. These pools were originally used by market visitors. Relief panels between the columns on the front and back show Jan and Griet as a young couple and the scene of their reunion. Two larger than life, seated figures are depicted on the north and south sides of the fountain. The male figure is a representation of the Cologne peasant, recognizable by a stick in your right hand and the Cologne coat of arms on your chest. The female figure, holding a shield in her right hand, represents the Virgin. Above the fountain is the standing figure of Jan von Werth, who is shown with legs apart, wearing riding boots and a skirt, and leaning on a sword with both arms
Beautiful little dam with an old viaduct.
Ein Teil der mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer am Sachsenring. Sehr gut erhalten und gepflegt durch die Kölner Karnevalsgesellschaften. Geschichte zum Anfassen.
Die Kölner Altstadt besticht durch kleine Gässchen, zahlreiche Brauhäuser und bunte historische Häuser. Empfehlenswert!
A nice and beautiful place to pass by while sightseeing around köln. Its near business park. You can enjoy the view and sit around the bridge area.
Für die einen ist es ein interessantes Denkmal, für Pokemonbegeisterte ein verstecktes Zeichen 🤭😉

Es handelt sich um ein denkmalgeschütztes Gebäude in der Villenkolonie Marienburg in Köln. Es wurde von dem Kölner Architekten Paul Pott entworfen. Es wurde in den Jahren 1914 und 1915 für Wilhelm Auerbach erbaut. Es befindet sich derzeit in einem baufälligen Zustand. Es ist schade, ein solches Gebäude verlassen zu sehen.

Johann von Werth became a general was due to a girl.
The poor peasant Jan fell in love with Griet but she wanted a wealthier partner and declined his offer of marriage. Devastated by her rejection he came upon an army recruiter and signed up to go to war. Through hard work and good fortune he rose to become a general, celebrating several victories. After taking the fort at Hermannstein he was leading his triumphant troops into Cologne through St. Severin's Gate, when he saw his former love Griet selling fruit at a market. Griet was filled with regret at turning down such a successful person and exclaimed "Jan, who would have thought it?" to which he replied "Griet, who would have had done it!" and turns away.

Erfreuliche Kaffee ☕️ Rösterei auf dem Buttermarkt…….Kakao ist ebenso voller Geschmack 👅 Energie innovativ ein bedeutend anders Publikum garantiert kein Ballermann und keine kleinen Feiglinge hier …angetroffen .
In Köln gibt es leider sehr wenige Zeugen der Vergangenheit, viel zu viel ist im Krieg zerstärt worde. An der Ulrepforte steht noch ein Stück der mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer, eine der ganz wenigen Relikte neben den noch erhaltenen wenigen Stadttoren. Gut das die Karnevalsgesellschaften so das Erbe erhalten, dafür gebührt wirklich ein großer Dank.

This statue and fountain stands in tribute to Jan von Werth, a 16th and 17th century German soldier who achieved notability during the Thirty Years War.
The monument takes the form of a victory column with Jan von Werth atop the column instead of nike. Around the base of the column are four cute looking cherubs, two statues depicting a farmer and a local Cologne Girl. There are also relief sculptures telling the (probably apocryphal) story of why Jan von Werth became a soldier in the first place, but I don’t want to ruin the story for you. Worth visiting when in Cologne.

A cute little park on the outskirt of the city. Nice place to take a walk and relax. Very large pond with an old bridge ruin and some artwork. Good area to start a trip to the city because there is decent parking in this area. Not much else to see.
Schönes Denkmal direkt am Neumarkt in der Kölner Innenstadt. Unmittelbar an einer alten Kirche und neben einem Markt, der immer Dienstags und freitags stattfindet. Gut zu erreichen mit dem öffentlichen Nahverkehr.
