They hold a lot of weddings here, and for good reason. The views of the water, the architecture, and grounds are all terrific. If you drive toward the water, there is a dock leading out to a boathouse. You can take the stairs to the top (bring some chairs), and it’s a great spot to watch the sunset.
Beautiful grounds, Little Sarasota bay views and historic sites of aboriginal people, and later 19th century settlers are highlights. The free Ninety minute tour was very interesting - many human interest stories and archeological knowledge was shared by our guides. Boatbuilding demo, viaduct restoration, 19th century gardens, butterfly house, restored home/Hotel, and archeological dig display all make for a satisfying experience.

Cafe managed by Michaels has delicious hot food and drink selections.

This botanical treasure is a feather in the Selby cap. Relaxing in nature makes for a serene visit.

Don’t miss the turnoff from Tamiami in Osprey as signs are not obvious - if you are driving fast you may need to turn around and go back.

If you have a botanical garden membership in your possession, check with the ticket office as you may be able to use reciprocity privileges for free admission!

Restrooms well cared for. Lots of shade. If you get too hot, a volunteer will pick you up to ride in golf cart .
Magical place to explore on foot or in the convenient tram. The pioneer buildings are restored beautifully as well as the aqua duct. It’s located on a gorgeous peninsula jutting into Little Sarasota Bay with a small cafe plus a historical excavation site that’s displayed professionally. The butterfly house was fun & interesting. The volunteer docents are knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the donated land and buildings. Worth a 2-4 hour visit especially with the current art display along the walking paths.
This is an amazing garden with so many different aspects to visit and enjoy. Expect to spend a few hours exploring. We really liked the variety of tropical plants many of which we had never seen before.

There are paths that take you along the bay and give a really beautiful vista. The huge Banyan trees are amazing. There are also some well-placed benches around the property, many are areas where you can sit and feel alone on such a big well visited place

The handmade wooden masks were on display while we were there, they are beautiful and the artwork and handcraft a joy to see.

Highly recommend
Absolutely gorgeous grounds. Beautiful and well-preserved look into old Florida history, life, and architecture as well as the ingenuity of early settlers here. Great learning experience and a nice walk through the expansive campus with a lot to see and take in.
This place is an absolute gem. A friend arranged a private tour that was exceptional and very informative. Highly recommend taking the boat tour. Incredibly cute church, nice historical home, a boat shed (where they build boats), incredible gardens that are beautiful and serene. Simply peaceful and relaxing.
Many different colorful butterflies to view, perfect for children or adults to enjoy
A relaxing day with a beautiful orchid show for their 50th anniversary. The grounds are beautiful. Good for relaxing and came home with a gorgeous hanging orchid.
What a fantastic way to spend a morning or afternoon! We were able to enjoy a history tour tour when we arrived. Our guide was knowledgeable and spent so much time answering our questions and explaining the history of this beautiful place. It's a great place to just walk around and enjoy the scenery and history. Highly recommend!
Spanish Point is a perfect venue for your wedding. We had the pleasure of photographing Shina and Stuart on the property and it was simply gorgeous, a photographer's dream. Thanks so much for having us and we hope to one day return.
Beautiful sight and walk love the history and the nature atmosphere
Tim was so helpful and friendly. Not only did he efficiently guide us through the entry process, but he also took the time to print and provide valuable information about the questions I asked. His dedication to ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors was evident as he went above and beyond to accommodate our needs.
Beautiful spot for a stroll and some history.

🛑The footbridge is currently closed.

⭐I couldn't find a cafe menu online anywhere so I posted a pic here.

PRO tip: Make sure you bring a water bottle! There is a refill station inside the cafe.
For old Florida history in an encapsulated area, this is the place to go.
The amazing tales of the families and what they did to encourage the growth of the area is fabulous.
The grounds are maintained and presented almost exclusively by volunteers.
The docent, Jim, at the Guptill house was incredible. He had us living the family's adventures for 30 minutes.
The butterfly house was a bonus treat. So much beauty flying around you.
Loved it!!!
A hidden gem, this is a great place to spend a few hours on a hit afternoon. The paths are mostly shaded.
Restroom were clean and obviously well cared for.
Serene place where you feel you are stepping back in time. It’s not hard to imagine what life would have been like 100 years ago as you walk the paths and visit the historic homes. Between 11-2 stop into the cafe for a snack and enjoy the lovely view. I plan to return to this peaceful oasis soon.
Very nice historic area and botanical garden. I joined them for the free tour, led by volunteers, and it was excellent. If you get tired, hot or need assistance, they have volunteers on golf carts/trams that can pick you up. Even in June, although it was hot, it was worth it. Since the property was picked and developed on high land next to the water, there were very nice breezes in many of the locations, plus there are a few museums you can escape to that are air conditioned. I went to both this site and the botanical garden in Sarasota and they are both very well worth it and enjoyable. Thank you!
