Hair cut was fine. Unfortunately, there is no "cash only" sign and my kid didn't ask before getting the cut. We were first timers (having lived here 14 years but our usual baber has decided to move overseas).

Ali gives the Best haircut, always remembers my style and he’s super welcoming. I travel 40 min just to get my haircut here.
The man Ali is as good as they come in the area! Been loyal to him since 3 years now and very happy with the service. He has a rather long list of loyal customers, so expect a bit of a wait every time you come.

I’ve tried a few barbers for a beard trim around the inner west, Redfern, and Newtown (many of them well known and often recommended by others) and none of them come close to the level of service and care I’ve experienced at Mallard. Where I’ve felt rushed at other places, where they can’t wait to get onto the next customer, the team at Mallard will take their time and ensure you’re happy with the end result. My only regret is not finding this place sooner.
New to the state so I'm still looking for a barber. When I request for things the barber kept on saying "don't worry brother, trust me I'll give you the best haircut ever."

I have been getting my haircut from Emilie over the last 2 years when she was working for another employer. I would highly recommend Mallard hairdresser as a very professional hairdresser, with great hospitality and service. Emilie puts her 100 percent into cutting my hair and her attention to detail is just remarkable. I come all the way from the north shore to get my haircut, since she styles my hair so well and I always getting compliments regarding my hair.
I had an amazing experience at Mallard barber shop, and I can't recommend them enough! The service was impeccable, and the haircut was exactly what I wanted. The Emily was skilled, attentive, and friendly. The shop had a great atmosphere, and the overall professionalism was outstanding. I left feeling satisfied and looking forward to my next visit. The barber is super quick, very professional, polite and no need for booking. He even has a massage chair for free on the side and toilets you can use. Always great haircuts.
Faded haircut for a teenager was well cut. I used the booking system never having been before, it was a bit dodgy. Luckily the owners prefers walk ins anyway (which suits us, we just didn't know,).

Absolutely amazing experience at the shop today. New to Sydney and have been trying to find the right barber for quite some time. I have curly/wavy hair and have been trying to grow it out but every time I went in for a maintenance cut, it was either cut too short or the shape of my hairstyle was changed. Appreciate how attentive and patient my barber was. Took his time with consulting and gave me exactly what I needed. Safe to say I finally found a place I can go to regularly. Tunes were the cherry on top.

Of the multitude of barber shops on King Street, this is the one to head to if you want a great cut! Brothers Carlos and Matt are the gents behind the clippers and scissors, and they know their trade. If you're not a local, the shop is a stone's throw from St Peters station and Sydney Park.

I have been getting my hair cut by Emilie since the beginning of 2022 and today was my first time seeing her in her & Callum's new shop in Newtown.
Emilie is without a doubt the best barber in Sydney, she is always super accommodating, friendly, professional, and provides a quality hair cut every time.

I recently visited Mallard Barber Shop and had an amazing experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, and my barber really listened to what I wanted to create the perfect haircut. New location but same Callum, same chilled vibe and same quality hair cut. Have been seeing Callum for years now and glad to see him in his own shop. Newtown is a little bit further from my office in the CBD but defo worth the trip out to get my monthly trim!
I recently visited Sam's barbershop and had a great experience. Unlike some places where you feel rushed and just another customer, Sam took his time and made sure that I was completely satisfied with my haircut. He was very understanding and careful, making adjustments as I needed them and checking in frequently to make sure everything was going well. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this barbershop to anyone looking for a place where they can get a quality, personalised haircut without feeling rushed or like just another customer. Amazing experience with 2 great blokes, Carlos and Matt who take their trade seriously, and make you feel at home. Best fades I've gotten from any barber. They also have nice hair products - am still using which is rare as I don't normally like using hair products. Major plus - there's air conditioning in the salon for the hot summer days!
Sam cut my hair, really friendly guy and I couldn't be happier with what he's done. Spent time before discussing what I wanted and him explaining different options. Great price and great service!
Good price and really fast service if you're looking for a normal men's haircut. The barbers are friendly and will chat if you like that or quietly work if you don't engage too much.
I’ve had a fair few cuts here, most of which have been great, but as I’ve grown my hair out the number of good cuts has diminished. My hair is on the curlier/wavier side, and that was completely neglected with my latest haircut. I asked for a long/shaggy cut with nothing sharp or short and the barber proceeded to cut off half the length on top and use a razor and scissors to take length off the back after I asked for just a neaten up. The barber seemed to be not very confident and failed to listen to any explaination I gave of the cut I requested. Pretty disappointed as I don’t think I’ll be coming back after this cut.
Went to the boys here for the first time today, they have definitely got a new customer! Not only did they fix the stuff ups from my previous barber but also gave me a better style then what I had before. Finally a barber who doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for a haircut either! Would definitely recommend the boys for anyone who is looking for a new barber on King St. 5 star service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally found my barber. Sam is a legend that takes care and pays attention. Always happy with my cut which can be hard to achieve consistently. All this and he's still offering the best prices around. Highly recommend.
The first experience was t great in this barber but I needed a hair cut after my regular place had to cancel. I shouldn’t have bothered. I had to ask 3-4 times to get the cut I asked for initially. What does grade 1 round the sides mean? It doesn’t mean a wedge. It doesn’t mean just one side.
I asked for 2-3 inches off the top and ended up looking like a military buzz cut. You need to listen to what people ask for, if you’re unsure, seek clarification, don’t assume.
Would advise against this barber.
Edit: Went back to get a refund, which they provided, but they accused me of changing my mind! Ah, its my fault, fantastic. One patron said "it doesn't look that bad"... which is exactly what you want from a new haircut eh.

I have been to many barber shops in my lifetime however Newtown Barber has to be the pinnacle of all barber shops in Sydney.
Each time I get a haircut, even though I get the same haircut, it seems to be the best haircut I have ever received.
The team is very professional, quick and absolute masters when it comes to giving a haircut. If you are looking for a place for consistently great service and even greater haircuts I could not recommend a better place.

Literally the worst haircut I've received as an adult. The guy was more concerned with getting customers in and out quickly, rather than doing a good job. He missed parts of my hair at the back, leaving me with a shabby mullet instead of the tidy-up I requested. When i said it looked uneven, he told me that it was a 'natural look' and didn't need fixing up.
I was in need of a cut and had been putting it off for a while due to bad experiences at other barber shops. Decided to give this place a go based on other reviews and I am glad I did. Sam is an excellent barber that takes his time to ensure every client is satisfied with their haircut. Left the shop extremely happy with my fade/beard trim and will definitely be returning! Would highly recommend Jupiter Barbershop, you will not be disappointed.
If you are a model just about to fly off to strut the catwalks in Milan, you like spending three hours getting your head massaged, sipping lattes, telling your life story whilst each follicle is individually pampered and paying several hundred bucks, massive kudos to you... but Sam probably isn't for you! Although I am sure he could do that!

He's been cutting hair for over 30 years and knows his stuff. He also charges what it says on the board with no hidden extras. I just paid $20 (Oct 2022) for a great cut. I highly recommend him. Also, if you are having trouble finding him, the shop front is a mixed business and he's at the back, on the street level.

Good barber next to landmark Sydney Park Hotel and 5 mins walk in Newtown direction from St Peters Station. Modern and clean and well priced, and doesn't overdo hipster element of some others in same area. Recommended. Update: still good.

The guy was more interested in watching the tele, telling me he was sleepy from lunch, then getting confused where he was up to when he came back from serving another customer.

I couldn't see my usual barber before the weekend so had to find one. I came to see these guys based on the google reviews I read....and I'm very happy to say the reviews were right!! I saw Luhaib (sp?) and not only did I not need to give much direction (mid to low skin fade with a basic track design) at all, he was efficient, professional and obvs great at his job. I'm extremely happy and will definitely be a return customer.
Steve and his team of professional barbers offer a pleasant and enjoyable experience from the first steps into the shop and leaving an experience that lasts long after you have left the shop. Awesome quality work that I have not been able to receive from close to 20 different barbers all located around this business. This is definitely a hidden gem in Newtown and I highly suggest getting your hair cut here.
Would highly suggest! Affordable and high quality cut. Easy to communicate to. Styled and cut my hair that suited head shape. Fade skills are pretty top notch. Thinned out nicely as well. They cut my hair the proper way! Nothing to complain about.
Killer tunes and a Young Henry's beer while you wait. Such a nice barber shop, it's my favourite of all the places I have ever got my haircut.
