Love this little shop. There aren't many Portuguese stores around Vancouver and this one feels authentic. It's run by a sweet older woman and I worry what will happen to the store should she retire. Amazing pastries and a good place to get some groceries you may not be able to get elsewhere.
Needed to update this review to clarify. My friend got assaulted by staff here and these guys have been ignoring all emails for the past two weeks and have been reported to both the police and the regulatory institutions in charge of privacy requests.
It blows my mind how a company this large, even an independently owned store, can pull this kind of stuff in plain view.
Everything is being documented, including your managers threat to delete the footage, Mr Sullivan. You will be forced to respond to all of this you are in court. Keep it up. Very professional!

Like this store, but they never have a very good selection of fresh fruits and veggies. Other stores in the area do a better job in this category, otherwise I'd give this IGA a higher rating.
We stopped in on a whim and were pleasantly surprised at the selection. One of the ladies made us a great coffee and some Pastel de Nata.. better than the ones we tried in Portugal! We will definitely be back for her baking.
Beware of misleading labels! Was about to purchase a watermelon which was advertised as being on sale. However, at the checkout the sale price didn’t apply. Cashier then said that the sale label is not correct and was meant to be for another item (cut watermelon, as per picture). They didn’t even honour the price that was advertised
Great selection and quality of meat at IGA Robson, but the best part is the knowledgeable staff behind the meat counter. Special mention to Juan who went out of his way to go into the back and carve up some sirloin medallions for a dinner party I was holding the same night. His stellar customer service is what delivers the 5 stars here!
Always amazing staff, especially Maria. Big smile, very helpful. I love going there for shopping because of her! It is needless to say that She is the Best ! Last time She explained me what is cash back and helped me with it. Big Thank you for everything ❤️
Great store! I mostly order my weekly groceries online and Shine always picks the best stuff for me. So convenient. I also appreciate their compostable meat trays. Would definitely recommend!
It’s time to add more cashiers, it is obvious that people don’t want to use the self checkout. When you shop in an expensive store like WF you expect at least to have an exceptional service not to be directed to self checkout.
Recently cashiers expect customers to pack their items. If they are going to make you pack your own they need to lower their prices from 3 x the rate of other stores.
Big fan of our local be fresh store. So much so that we already miss it with our pending move to port moody.

I find it a bit small, but I appreciate the free 2 hr parking! I also get my Salsa Salami that I cannot get anywhere else (only at IGA so far, I have found).
I love this shop. The staff is aways very friendly and smiling. Quality and selection of suplement, food and cleaning product is very high. I enjoy shopping here a lot
I’m an everyday long time shopper. The staff is always super helpful and always nice. Unfortunately yesterday I got food poisoning from the hot bar. This would be the third time in the last 3 months from the same hot bar and location. There needs to be better management for that particular station so someone else doesn’t get sick or worse. I’ll be back, I just won’t be eating from that hot bar.
Very helpful pleasant staff, also this store has a great selection of the kind of items you may not get at other grocery stores like gluten free and Japanese sauces and frozen shrimp tempera, raw tuna and Italian pancetta. These items have not risen in price (or were on sale) since the summer. Pleasantly surprised at that! Could have been 5 stars if all the prices were a bit lower but still all in all it was a well spent gift card!🙂
This place is a must go if you’re looking for fresh, local, organic, or even niche products. They’ve got an amazing array of fruits and veggies and a variety of awesome snacks and pantry essentials. If you need some last minute gift ideas they also have a bunch of locally sourced products and natural home goods. Plus, they’ve got the best coffee in the area. The Americano deal cannot be beat and the staff are always friendly, fast and knowledgeable. Definitely a place you have to check out if you’re in the neighborhood!

Formerly Young Brothers. Some staff is the same but the vibe is different - less crowded and wider aisles. Good values.
Nice and cosy place to find fresh products. They're full of customer service skills and helpful to find items I needed. Especially, Aziz was helping me out with price checks and browsing the vegetables.
Really nice, welcoming, and affordable place. All employees are super polite, and friendly. I interacted with one of the employees, Mr. Azizul. He went above and beyond to assist me with the groceries. I highly appreciate that....thank you so much....
This IGA is a very convenient store at a great location in the middle of town. The selection of groceries is decent, although not my go-to (I recommend the Safeway instead). However, if you stop by, know that IGA is still a decent choice for groceries.
So disappointing. I walked into the store today where I have been shopping at for years, and saw that more than half of the checkout stands had been removed. The update from the cashier who rang up my groceries was that it has been decided that self check-out kiosk will replace the cashier's at this quaint neighbourhood grocery store. What an enormous loss for those of us who shop this Whole Foods, in the West End. This is definitely not the demographic that will benefit in anyway from this change. I for one shop here and pay higher prices, because of the excellent customer service, small neighbourhood feel, and the tradition of having an actual person that rings through my groceries and actually bags them. Definitely not the right decision for this location and clientele.
They had everything I wanted on my fruits and vegetables shopping list and it was much less expensive than in grocery stores
Love, love, love this place. Been a customer here for over 30 years. They carry some of the best organic meats and produce. Their selection of grains, spices and snacks are commendable. Never disappointed.
I love this store. The prices are fair, fresh produce, and lots of other cool products from Asian to European specialty foods. Definitely recommend! Support local :)

Carries everything type store, like a Safeway. Good selection of unusual vegetables. Fair pricing. Other grocery stores seem to be doing some greed-flation. Not IGA.
Famous Foods is THE BEST FOOD STORE EVER. Organic bulk everything, foods from Europe and South America, grass-fed meats, 20 different kinds of honey...It is a treasure trove. I could easily spend half my day and all my money there.
Best americano deal in the city! AND they have amazing housemade almond and cashew milks. Their staff are super nice too. :)

I went to buy hot bar food and ended up picking a few other items today. When paying for my items I asked the cashier if I could buy a gift card. He said, "Yes, but I'm going to help the next person in line so that he doesn't have to wait." What? I asked why I was supposed to wait as he wasn't finished serving me. I decided to not bother and will get a gift for my friend to shop somewhere else.
This afternoon I went to get some coffee IGA @ 4th Ave & Collingwood st and this staff Tanya, also the sister of the franchise owner of this location was not only rude and unprofessional considering she is one of the senior staff there.. I was getting my coffee in my mug and she quickly came and count the number of pumps I put on my mug reading out aloud to me. I asked her why are you counting, she said she wants to know how much coffee I put in there. That's ridiculous, intimidating of a customer while pouring its coffee, she is the devil of the pack. She has been telling the other morning cashier to charge me a large coffee. All these while the other staffs have been charging me a medium size coffee and once I asked why the inconsistency, the morning cashier rudely said I will charge you a large next time. I can pay for the coffee for whatever price but please be professional and treat your customers with respect. No smile and no respect, unprofessional approach kind of service is unacceptable.

Crazy expensive, this grocery store has Whole Foods-like pricing (some things even like Erewhon I swear…!) The bakery is good and it’s handy for grabbing beach snacks or fancy sauces, but too expensive for actual grocery shops. Also, they don’t accept Scene points!

You know there is an issue when Whole Foods is cheaper...Famous Foods has been our go to grocery store for our bi-weekly shopping. Over the last three months, the prices have getting higher so we started to track them. In fact, things like cottage cheese have gone up $1 in less than a month. We just went to Whole Foods to compare prices and the same brand butter, milk and other staples were at least $2 cheaper per item. As a neighborhood grocery store in a community which is not know for its wealth, $12 for butter and $9 for milk is outrageous. Increasing prices that quickly is uncalled for and a real scam. We won't be going back again.
I want to give this market 5 stars for their friendly staff and affordable produce, but lately there has been a lot of quality problems! I have bought two bags of potatoes that turned out to be moldy and there’s often rotten fruit/veg on display. Not good!

Dont be fooled by the name GREENS This wonderful old fashioned Grocery shop is also a place for organic meats and sausages A full deli with many hard to find cuts and a chocolate bar with organic chocolate treats and seating at the back of the store The produce is a bit more expensive than at other places but mostly organic and local We love their price point reward program and are frequent customers there We are almost at enough points for an organic roasted chicken! I just had the worst experience in the supplement department. The staff was shockingly rude. They were out of stock on a product, and I brought the tag to the service desk to ask if I could order it. Instead of accommodating me, the woman snapped at me for bringing her the tag. I said I’m bringing it to you to show you what I’m looking for. I thought it would make it easier for you to scan it. I will put it back. I know exactly where I got it from. She snapped at me to do that now! Then she tried to take it out of my hand to say that she would do it. As I was sticking it back on the shelf! Never again. I’d rather shop where I am treated with courtesy and kindness.
I don’t think it’s worth it to go to buy groceries in this place. They are over priced and plus the cashier. They are full with that bad attitude even the management they don’t need to even to listen to a problem they’re taking their own entrance and professional staff site. They don’t give a damn about the customers.

I’m always impressed with the staff in the meat/seafood department. The service and selection is outstanding for a general grocery store.
Can’t say enough about this gem. They are “ fresh,” literally. Always smiling and happy! This establishment also donates a lot of food instead of throwing out . Check out “ too good to go” if you haven’t. Their bags are amazing.

Great produce selection, dry and fresh. Seasonal fruit I found here that you cannot find anywhere else in Vancouver: guava, quince, sour cherries, fresh dates!!
Favorite grocery store in the area. If you like a good deal, you'll always find one here if you're flexible with your shopping list. I usually save at least $20-40 per shop here compared to the big chain grocery stores and the meat is better quality too.
This is a 4.5/5 for me. The produce is fantastic, cheaper than pretty much every other store in terms of produce. The only issue is that this place doesn't have good selection of meat. But otherwise, this place is fantastic. Definitely worth going to.

Late in 'discovering' this little gem at Broadway/MacDonald. Good selection of fruits n veggies (btw, with latter, some are not always the freshest) but decent pricing. Plus loads of Mid East products like dolmas, pickled/fermented foods, breads and spices. My go-2 4fruits and an assortment of middle Eastern foodsfuffs! Check it out but be warned, place seems perinnally busy...
I love this grocery store! They have everything you need and it has a small town feel. They have a hot bar and yummy chocolate shop too. I hope they aren't affected too badly by the Broadway construction!
I love this store so much. Everything is a $1-$2 cheaper than any other grocery store. They have really interesting and varied breads (different naans, tortilla type Persian bread, challah, etc). The produce can sometimes be a bit better but overall, would recommend shopping here. Do yourself a favour and buy the triple layer hummus with the olive tapenade 🤤
As someone who juices regularly I have to drive here from Richmond to get good quality organic produce. It’s incredible to me that I cannot rely on the local Richmond grocery stores (including Superstore) to reliably carry organic produce. And contrary to what many people believe about whole foods, their organic produce always costs me LESS than when I am able to find it in Richmond!!

Great small local grocery. Has a deli with in house prepared foods for taking home. Free one hour car parking at ground level off lane with direct entrance to store. They even allow me to park my bike inside while I shop!

I recently visited a grocery store and it was a great experience. The store was well-stocked and the prices were very reasonable. The manager was especially helpful and friendly, and went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for great service and a wide selection of groceries
Fantastic service from the helpful staff along with excellent produce, fish, sheep’s milk yoghurt (!) regional sausages types I’ve never seen before and that local meat cut by their own butchers. Also the small but comprehensive bulk section has dried mango slices that make my mouth water just typing this and thanks for the unroasted buckwheat groats. This store and all the others certainly deserve a property tax break during the Skytrain extension construction.
I've always liked the range of organic and specialty items here, but today my taste buds went next level deliciousness! Their kale salad!! What a recipe, with pecans, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, mango, citrus, in a sweet dressing....oh my, almost want to drive across town for another serving!
I live near this place, so I've been coming here for the pre cooked to go and grocery for over ten years. The store is small, but most of daily necessities an be found here, and the weekly sale items always offer very good prices. There are many employees who will greet you proactively and offer help. However, there are two female employees in the coffee bar department who have been working there for a very long time. Whenever I see them, even though they are wearing masks, I feel like they are not looking at me and do not want to greet me. They seem very indifferent, which is really bad when I come to drink coffee early in the morning. I always say thank you politely, but they still don't respond much. Overall, most of the employees are enthusiastic, and the products are fresh and reasonably priced. I will still come here to consume frequently.
I love this spot for fresh produce and any smaller items I need when not doing a full grocery shop. The staff are very nice, there is a lovely seating area, and best of all, they do $2 coffees which definitely keeps us coming back.

Been looking all over for cured salted codfish until I came across this place. Good variety of items overall, the ladies who take care of the shop are very friendly and treat you like if you’re home.

Awesome selections of budget friendly organic meats and spices. We have been coming here for over 10yrs and always stock up on meats.

I went there many times. You can see that i cannot stop taking pictures of the store! It’s always been a pleasant shopping experience.
I got their Be Fresh meals, and coffee. It tastes so yummy just like how it looks! And i know that their coffee roaster won 15 medals in Italy! No wonder their coffee is so great but surprisingly good price! Top pick compare to other coffee shop in the area.

It is a classic Downtown grocery store: it is small and expensive but has what you need for an emergency. They have a good produce area, a deli area with lots of cheese, a mini bakery, some ready to go sandwiches and mini meals, ... pretty much everything you need.
Small and cosy but very effective. Good selection of everything you expect in a grocery store including coffee, tea and pastries and even cakes. Worth mentioning is also the organic fruits and vegetables section. The overall appearance of the store has nicely improved over the last ten years. Really like to sit on the patio and to shop there. Parking is free.
Such a wonderful clean store - large selection of fresh fruit. We stopped in on our way to bike the sea wall, and grabbed some fruit and coconut water to take with to lunch. The cashier I spoke to was so nice, we had a wonderful conversation. Sometimes it’s the little things that make your day, and that was one of them. Fresh mango at the sea wall, a perfect lunch.
Fairly nice place, as a whole foods you'd expect about as much. Wide selection of options both fresh and not. The deli had some choice fresh sandwiches too. The staff was approachable and all in all a good experience. A little pricey but it's also core downtown.

Everything is always so fresh at the Be Fresh Local Market, you know exactly what's going into each one of your products, and the staff is friendly as well as informative. They make you feel like family and they're very knowledgeable about their products. Highly recommended.
Very nice store, great options for bulk food and general groceries. When is come to fresh fish and meats I wasn’t much impressed by they display. Done good bread and crackers, cheese selection was good abs veggies also. Some items are a good price and many a bit $$$ so you really need to look well. Overrule like the place and will come back just because the options on bulk products
Small local grocery store. Prices are better than the chains for your produce but the quality is slightly less. The store is packed with items in a small space and I was bumped multiple times while in an aisle looking for an item. Not the cleanest either.

BeFresh Market is where I get my organic coffee and teas and love their avocado toast ,too.

I've gone to this branch of IGA a few times. The first time I went (to buy a redbull), I thought their prices were far too high (compared to places like Costco). However, when I went back for my second trip (to buy cake mix), I found their prices weren't unreasonable across their wide selection. The place is clean, and the staff has smiles on their faces (especially at night.) If you need a 1-off basic item like eggs, cake mix, flour, this is a decent place to go.
The only place i could find sumol in vancouver. their pastéis de nata are pretty good and it’s relatively cheap compared to other places $1.50 each. most other places (i could only find them in asian bakeries) sell at $2 each. Guaraná is a bit pricey but its worth it.
Friendly and quaint little Portuguese market and coffee shop. Meant for the local Portuguese community and it's seniors. Not a trendy hipster café if that's what your looking for. But a humble little spot in what was once and still is a bit, Little Portugal. Saúde a todos nossos vizinhos! 😃😎🤗
Great little store. It's a bit small and can be very crowded at times but they've got an excellent little seating area for coffee or even a meal. Great bakery and lots of options for hot, ready to go meals. This place has free parking, which is a big win in the city.
My gf and I pretty much eat the burritos from here 4 times a week. We love it so much!! The staff are super nice and very friendly. The only thing is that the size of the burritos are sometimes big some times small.

They had a decent selection of organics, gluten free etc.. they even have vegemite and marmite! Haha. Some things seemed expensive but they had lots of specials.
I would be more shocked about white mold under the produce shelves but I've seen that at so many grocery stores lately (no less than 3 times at WFM) that I'm no longer surprised...
They had a decent selection of organics, gluten free etc.. they even have vegemite and marmite! Haha. Some things seemed expensive but they had lots of specials.
I would be more shocked about white mold under the produce shelves but I've seen that at so many grocery stores lately (no less than 3 times at WFM) that I'm no longer surprised...
This is about bistro/cafe: the staff is so polite and responsive. I bought today's special sandwich, Montreal smoked beef it was tasty and I usually DON'T EAT BEEF.
