Loving the 3rd&H St. NE store. The air conditioning under ground garage is spot on. It's a beautiful day today ,78degrees, so it was a good day!!

BEWARE: I got food poisining from the HOT FOOD BAR chicken wings and chili lime sweet potatoes. I was sick for three (3) days! The food at this bar remains in the bins long enough for the food to dry up and form crusts.
I wrote the corporate headquarters to share my experience and reported this While Foods H Street store to city and federal food safety regulators.
Be careful, if you choose to eat the HOT BAR food at this store location.

As a long-time resident of the H Street Corridor, I can say with certainty that the Whole Foods on this vibrant stretch of NE DC has become an absolute gem of the neighborhood. This modern, spacious supermarket has not only raised the bar for grocery shopping in the area but has also evolved into a true community hub.
From the moment you walk through the doors, you're struck by the sheer scale and variety of offerings. The aisles are meticulously stocked with an incredibly diverse selection of high-quality, sustainably sourced products - from fresh, locally-grown produce to an impressive array of specialty foods, household items, and health/beauty products. It's a one-stop shop for anyone seeking to maintain a healthy, environmentally-conscious lifestyle.
But what truly sets this Whole Foods apart is the palpable sense of community it has fostered. The store's layout is designed to encourage shoppers to linger and explore, with ample seating areas, a bustling coffee shop, and a fantastic food hall featuring a diverse range of dining options. It's become a gathering place for the neighborhood, where residents can not only grocery shop, but also enjoy a meal, catch up with friends, or simply soak in the vibrant energy of the H Street corridor.
The staff at this Whole Foods location is also truly exceptional. The employees are unfailingly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to assist customers with any questions or needs. They take pride in curating the store's selection and are always happy to offer product recommendations or suggest new items to try.
Perhaps most impressively, the Whole Foods on H Street has managed to maintain its high-quality standards and commitment to sustainability, even as the neighborhood has rapidly evolved. The store sources from local farms and producers whenever possible, supports community initiatives, and continually strives to reduce its environmental impact.
In a city with no shortage of grocery options, the Whole Foods on H Street NE stands out as a shining example of what a modern, community-centric supermarket can and should be. Whether you're in the market for healthy, fresh ingredients, a delicious prepared meal, or simply a welcoming place to spend an afternoon, this store delivers an experience that is truly unparalleled. I couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone in the DC area.

Very nice and clean store. Jarrett is not the one to ask for help! Maybe customer service isn't his capacity at work. If so, he should take off the smock so people won't bother him from whatever it is that he is doing. Maybe I just asked him a question on his "off day". I have off days too at work. Maybe he should stay in his office on those days with minimal customer interaction. I'm sure Jarrett is a nice young man; he just isn't excited about his job! Again, very clean store...🧹🧽

Don't like the meat kinda high prices except for the veggies

From excellent customer service to well-stocked shelves, this supermarket consistently exceeds expectations. A one-stop destination for quality groceries.

Truly mexican market in DC, you can find everything with decent prices.

The produce is all always rotten and of the lowest quality I've ever tried

Helpful space !

Fix your internet signal/Wi Fi. It’s almost impossible to scan anything in this store. It’s annoying because I had to cancel my shopping order.

Jarrett, the evening manager, needs customer service training. I had a dispute with the cashier, who was simply clueless and appeared to be "off the clock" even though it was 9:57, and I asked for the manager. Jarrett, displaying body language of a negative attitude, told me to basically pay for my items and leave. I wanted to save money on the avocados and I did not understand about the Prime membership, which I do have. Instead of trying to help, the cashier, looking like she just smoked a blunt, was just standing there with no clue as to what was happening. Jarrett did help, but certainly didn't want to, or at least that was his attitude. I found out why Jarrett wanted me to hurry up and pay so that he could lock the doors at 9:58 (he opened them for me to leave as he suggested at the register). Wow, I had no idea your management training allows your team members to rush customers out of the door. Is this because it was 9:57? Most businesses want customers to rush inside the store. Whole Foods wants to lock the doors BEFORE closing and if you happen to be in the store, certain team members and management members want you to hurry, purchase, and get out! One more thing, Jarrett encouraged me to write this review, so obviously he could care less about any promotions, accolades, or even a congratulations on a job well done from members of your organization. Your employees must have a low morale in this environment. It's too bad, because I loved the atmosphere of the store, but I will never visit again. Thanks Jarrett! ✊️

Really nice for my first time shopping at a Whole Foods store. I was trying to find certain fruits and veggies, after going to so many other stores before an every week I look for certain things and every store I went to were out and I would have to wait a few days to get what I needed shipped. Now, seeing as I've never been inside a Whole Foods store before, going in thinking that if other stores didn't have what I was looking for they might not either. But I walked in the first few items I've been looking for were right there, fully stocked up, and plenty to choose from. I was super excited. Now I have a favorite preference of where I prefer to shop for fruits and veggies and other healthy choice foods and drinks. And I would definitely recommend it to others

Everything is over priced! They need to be reported

Just moved to the area and have visited the store a few times and have never had an issue until today. I walk 10 minutes to the store and back and requested an additional bag due to having large items (as the bag will break on my way home). I was told that there would be an additional charge for an additional bag. There was a long line behind me due to it being lunch time, and the clerk sat and argued with me about five cents.
After this encounter, I returned home and ordered necessities and essentials in bulk from Target and Amazon due to this experience. I advise anyone else to do the same. The store is already price gouging due to convenience and this encounter was the final nail in the coffin. Congratulations, you lost a potential longtime customer over FIVE CENTS. This country is done.

Always clean and quiet with a decent selection of needed goods. Prices aren't too bad. It's like a grab-and-go place with very friendly owners.

Convenient little grocery market in downtown with a little of everything for one stop shopping!

All the snacks you’re looking for. Also canned coffee and green tea those carbonated fruit drinks with the marble at the top. A dozen varieties of KitKat. Seemingly every Hi-Chew and Puchao available. Shelves and shelves of seaweed and furikake and ramen. I always walk out of here with three times what I expected to get! My favorites are the peanut snacks and wasabi nori-wrapped crackers.

Bought a pack of cheese. Looked ok from the outside of the wrapper but there was white mold all over it.

Jason and Kelly are awesome! They have such fun inventory (hello pickle lays, little sesame hummus and Moshi drinks!!) and are so kind to all. Love having this shop so close to home

Inside an 1875 corner rowhouse in Dupont Circle is Hana Japanese Market, an immigrant-owned Japanese market that sells homemade omusubi (rice balls) every day. Run by a wife-husband team, products like noodles, mochi, and curries overcrowd shelves along small aisles. It adds to the atmosphere of a beloved neighborhood market with loyal customers. And they sell cold Royal Milk Tea, my vice.

We've stumbled upon a supermarket that's a playground for culinary creativity. From well-priced chicken to a diverse assortment of meats like lengua and tripe, the options are endless. And yes, they've got the essentials for concocting a rich mole or a comforting bowl of pozole.
The produce section? An artist's palette of fresh fruits and vegetables, inviting you to go beyond the ordinary.
Now, for the foundation of countless dishes—excellent tortillas and tostadas. They've got the quality to elevate any meal, from tacos to tostadas and beyond.
This place is a canvas, and the ingredients are your colors. Whether you're mastering a family recipe or inventing a dish on the fly, the possibilities here are limited only by your imagination.

Interesting sales items and good prices for the daily needs

They've got everything here, it's a little on the higher side but I absolutely love the fresh veggies and fruits here.

great produce and good prices! very kind owners! they have asian and latin american food

$7.20 for two bell peppers. All you need to know.

This place has great asian options and often at lower prices than grocery stores. Some of the staff are super rude while others are very friendly. I tend to encounter both when I visit so I don't patronize as often as I would like to.

Top notch neighborhood marker/grocer. Supplies hard to locate organic products which bigger chains (Whole Foods; Yes market) fail to supply. They also have a tea and sandwich shop located in house. Nice touch for anyone who’s seeking a quick, and healthy bite “on the go”

The male owner of this shop keeps making the same joke that is NOT funny: Whenever he sees me pay, he turns to my husband and says that I am his (my husband’s) “sugar daddy”. It’s now happened three times. We keep giving him a blank face, we don’t smile or do anything that suggests we enjoyed his joke and he does it again. Why do we go? I used to go here when I was yet to discover Trader Joe’s and Wholefoods which are both nearby, have better products (definitely not expired) and are joke-free. Lately we had to shop here as we needed some items last minute. Won’t be making that mistake again.

My young daughter has a special place in her stomach and heart for Whole Foods. She insist that we visit locations whenever we travel. Well we visited the H St. NE Wash, DC location and we were pleasantly surprised while at the hot food bar.
We asked Kelly, an employee/I'm sure a manager, what type of white fish was being served. That question lead to me telling Kelly how my daughter was just so thrilled to be visiting the store today and how she loves the hot food bar. I also explained how she likes to visit every store she can.
After we walked away Kelly came over to us and offered my daughter to select a complimentary treat from the desert case.
Kelly, you are a class act and a wonderful representation of Whole Foods! Thank you for joining in on my daughter's excitement 😁 and making it an exceptionally wonderful time for her. I will now make it a point to shop at Whole Foods. You've gained a new regular customer.
Just goes to show there are still good people and quality staff definitely enhance any brand!.
Thank you Kelly!

The best finds in this neighborhood grocery are the dried spices and the Latin cheeses. For basic goods and meats, it’s cheaper at nearby Giant. The staff is friendly.

Your typical neighborhood store. It will have what you need and some not typical. The fruits were fresh. I went to purchase mainly nuts and fruits. I was able to find a good variety of options. I asked 3 employees where some items were. Two of them were able to send me to the correct locations.

I used to like this store! Recently I stopped by to get some asain spices and one of the employees found it necessary to follow me around the store. It wasn’t until I was checking out where he left me alone. Very discriminatory! I lived in the neighborhood for years and a promominent member of this society. I’m also a DC public servant. Never shopping here again. Overall grade:F.

Great place for all daily needs in terms of groceries & packed meals & snacks and eatables n beverages - great location

Great store. Staying with family in nearby hotel. Has everything you need. Fresh fruit and vegetables

Amazing market. Staying down the road at a Hilton and would rather have my own in-room food. Got protein bars, egg burritos, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Reasonably priced for the convenience and location downtown. Will definitely be back during my trip.

Easily my favorite store in DC. Hana manages to pack an amazing variety of groceries including both nonperishable goods and fresh produce into a small space. This is my go-to store for a lot of specialty East Asian ingredients as well as everyday staples. Great frozen section, great tofu selection, lots of pickled foods like kimchi and ddanmuji, seaweed, sweet and savory snacks, household items and kitchenware like chopsticks, soup bowls, etc... The owners are so kind and the prices are really reasonable, even compared to big grocery store chains nearby. Minimum spend amount to use a credit card so bring cash if you're only planning to buy one or two things.

On my trip to D.C., this was my favorite place to shop. The prices are fantastic, and the customer service went above and beyond to make my friends and I feel welcome and comfortable. I was also lucky to have some of their freshly made onigiri, which was absolutely delightful! I want to send all my love to their business, and if I'm up in the area again, I will be certain to stop by!

You need to set expectations when shopping at a small store like this. For what it is, it’s perfect: Small but decent selection of everything, not terribly high prices.
I wouldn’t do my entire grocery shopping here, but for the convenience factor, it’s absolutely perfect to go grab one or two things that you forgot to pickup. The owners are lovely and it’s always clean and quiet. I’ll happily pay and extra dollar or two in order to get something quick here rather than walk a couple blocks back to Trader Joe’s.

Ate here at least twice a week for two years. Their bowls are fantastic - healthy, tasty, and great portions. Staff is super friendly. Grocery is more expensive than supermarkets, but so convenient. It’s also great supporting local businesses and the bodega model

We adore this place - honestly this is one of our favorite little treasures. It's a small store that seems to have everything that you need, whether it's yogurt or niche Asian dumpling wrappers. It's got an excellent wine and beer selection. The hot food is fantastic - the bowls are such great value and super tasty. They sell boba and coffee. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the store is clean and safe. What more do you need! Streets is the best!

Very clean store anlittle of everything. Prices were ok, some things are very pricey

Great market, good food. Very friendly, great customer service.

I was so excited to have an international store in the neighborhood, normally I would travel to Takoma to purchase my Caribbean needs but this place was horrible. The butcher deliberately sold me 3 lbs of the nastiest meat I have ever had because I was not Spanish speaking. I will never return.

cashier and staff are nice! they welcomed me to the neighborhood and im looking forward to supporting them

Wonderful store the one stop you will love. The customer service is very good 😊

Prices for good food cheaper than what I usually see it go for at the safeways, giants, places like that. Every neighborhood would be richer if they all had a store like this one.

What a dump. Stopped in with my son for an ice cream bar on our way home from the park. The owner accused me of trying to steal them! And 2 ice cream bars for $9? Give me a break. This is a neighborhood blight that exists only to sell lottery tickets and liquor. Hope it closes soon.

The store owner and all the employees are absolute delights and it’s a great place for things you need in a pinch. And they have kim chi!

Poor selection, felt like we were being watched the whole time. Adams Market up the street is definitely better in my opinion.

Poor grocery store to visit. Shelves are empty. Good for lottery tickets and wine and beer

support small businesses! the cashier was very friendly and seemed very excited to see me

Had never been here before, but had always wanted to try it, so walked over after work. The shop is much smaller than I thought, but it was packed with the most delicious foods and drinks! The family that runs it were super friendly, and it was just a very welcoming shop. Will definitely be back to try the produce and roll cakes!

Black Folks in this community always complaining about that store since their new ownship. Now I see why as of today 3/18/2023!
They are very Racist's and as badly I need something I'll do without or go to Giant/Safeway. It was a long line and only one person was at the register.
Spanish dude opens up another register and hollers next. So, I walked over there to be told by him. That I'm not next! So, he's still hollering Next. He's looking at the White folks at the other register. I told him they all together and he needs to mind his business. White folks turned and looked at him like he was crazy.

Because there is no other choice... you may end up there. The fruits and vegetables are typically ruined, and dearly overpriced. I recently paid $14 for 2 eggplants, only to see later that they are priced $1.79 a piece at WholeFoods -- for a totally different quality! (and that's just one example of the fact that this place is priced higher than the top-end supermarkets...)
And it does feel like a rip-off, with no prices on the shelves, poor quality, etc.
It is time to have a good quality supermarket in the Mount Pleasant area!

beautiful grocery store and friendly staff but prices are a little high comparing to Giant and Whole food

Shall I name the reasons I love this place? There are really too many … they have such great produce with lots of vegetables you can't find at Giants. Like big carrots and Asian eggplants. They have all Korean and Mexican essentials that you usually can't find unless you go to a specialty shop. But even more than that, they have all the nice American/European things that you need everyday, like good cheese. Also excellent meat and wine selection — all at great prices. At this point you might think I was paid to write this review, but no, I just love this grocery store near my home and I want everyone to know. To me, this is the best grocery in DC. I love you capital supermarket <3.

stopped in because I like the DC Statehood art on the side, inside was barely anything. I brought and icecream cone for $4.00!! I was to embarrassed to put it back.. plus I wanted it😄. Brought a lottery ticket and didn't win. would not recommend.

Convenient neighborhood grocery with kits of great and reasonably priced Asian and Hispanic food items and produce. I love there produce choices for my type of cooking.

VERY expensive, bordering on criminal. No prices on shelf/produce so you find out at checkout.
6 beers, loaf of bread, milk, coffee, butter, jam = $58.

Upon visiting this corner store I realized the prices are extremely high simply because they can. The owner of this place was also rude and inconsiderate.

I’m in Streets 1-2x per week because I live nearby. The employees are so cheerful and helpful, the store is always super clean and well stocked and I think it is very reasonably priced when compared to larger stores.
I typically don’t do my full food shopping here but I definitely rely on it for certain items and when I’m in a pinch!

Truly unique selection of food to shop and the prices are amazing. A must if you're looking for something different to try or just want to support good local business. Their nice and their customer service is unmatched.thanks!

Whole Foods never disappoints. The produce was fresh, the store was clean, the staff were helpful and friendly. We went shopping on a holiday and the store was a little crowded but not overwhelming. There was one drawback on this trip and it was the fact that there were flies crawling on the loose/pick your own cookies in the bakery section. My crew really wanted 2 specific cookies from this section but we had to pass after seeing this travesty. The store will have to put these cookies in a case or something. Otherwise, a good experience. Free parking, easy accessibility to the garage/store.

We walked about 20 minutes to get there.
Oh my they had everything. We spent $99 & they gave us a free ride home. I loved this place❤️❤️❤️

A little journey to Japan. When you feel some needs to shop into the world of japanese groceries then you have to visit Hana Market. After 1pm they sell fresh Onigiri. And mostly you will find all of the traditional japanese sweets like Baumkuchen and Rice Cakes. Really love this place.

Another really nice and friendly place to shop. It's a neighborhood convenience store but it really has everything that you would need real quick to pick up at home in the kitchen or in your restroom at home. The prices are a little high but fair for the convenience I guess very clean friendly. I also go there at least four times a week...

Fun spot for happy hour! They have a deal for 2 slices of pizza and a happy hour well drink for $10!!!! Such a good deal! I got the vacation boi drink.

Stopped into this little bodega to get a drink. The lady (cashier) who I believe is also the owner informed me that Cards a $5 minimum. So I had to request a lifeline from my sister. Then the owners wife comes to see that everything was ok and why I was lingering. (Well no, I just had blood drawn and I’m parched and really needed a drink.
Then finally my money comes in, I pay the lady. Typically when requested they give you the receipt. Well apparently she was upset because she half hazardous aims the receipt and it doesn’t even make it half way to me as if she couldn’t be bothered with me in her store anymore. I was surprised because at no time was I rude to her, other than wait three minutes for some money to be sent to my cash app.
That’s why I gave this place a 1 star rating for poor treatment of customers. I wouldn’t had expected that from a Chinese/Korean mom and pop bodega.

A great Japanese grocery! It's small, but there's a good selection and the owner is very sweet and helpful. I recommend coming for onigiri- they sell it every day but Tuesdays and Wednesdays after 1 PM. My favorite is the chicken mayo, but they're all delicious. Also recommend the sweet breads if they're in stock!

Love this neighborhood market!! The staff is so friendly - they always put a smile on my face. And they really have neatly packed so much into the store! Fresh fruit and vegetables, dry goods, milk and dairy, fridge and freezer items, and a great wine and beer selection.

Super convenient. Easy in and out. Certainly no shortage of product here. Enjoyed the varied products available. Live local and a super easy walk to this bodega.

I've walked past this joint for what seems like an eternity, but I've never had the chance to go inside and check out the greatness. At first glance, it reminded me of a slimmed down version of the typical chain grocery store spread out across the city. There were a few shoppers inside on this Tuesday morning, and mostly what I saw were the workers busy stocking shelves. Some of the items that I came across seemed slightly high in price, but I'm pretty sure this is the case everywhere in DC now. Higher prices = part of the fun! I think that this store has pretty much everything one would expect in a grocery store. They have a well-stacked produce section, as well as, general produce. I even noticed a cooler dedicated for Ben & Jerry's ice cream. The price for the ice cream wasn't discernable, but as long as it's not more than $7.00, I would be cool with that! Nice place, nice vibe!

I went to this Super Market last weekend I was so happy to find guanabana there. They had a variety of Latin products that I use. The cashier was so thoughtful and pleasant. I will be back to get more items. What a blessing. Before going I called and went to another Latin Mkt not a good experience. At Best World, it was a good experience.

I'm lucky this place exists. My car overheated and all of the coolant poured out onto the street. I had no idea where to find a bottle of antifreeze in the area. Eventually I found Metro Supermarket and decided to buy a gallon of water as a temporary fix so I could at least get the car back home.
Lo and behold, this place had antifreeze, and at a very solid price. They seem to have a wide variety of items and it's all very neatly organized. Employees were very kind as well. Filled up my car, made sure there were no leaks, and went on my way.

Fantastic selection of international food items.
They have been expanding their Asian foods range, so every sauce you can imagine is somewhere on the shelves. They also have a great selection of dried spices for whatever you may be cooking.
The produce isn't always peak, but the selection is a decent, and you can't beat the prices they offer.
This is also the only shop in Mt. Pleasant that carries cream soda.

This little corner market has a good selection of fresh produce and meats. The meat selection is great if you like meat cuts that are hard to find in chain grocery stores. Also, their fresh chicken tamales available only on Sundays are great!

Good products from all over the world. Can find kimchi and many different Mexican ingredients.

A great spot when you need to grab anything quickly. The sandwiches are delicious and I always enjoy their pre-made meals as well. I have tried just about everything here and have yet to be disappointed.

They do not clean up trash on 23rd street side of store.....makes neighborhood property values go down.....

Good deli sandwiches, surprisingly good section and stays well stocked for the small space, good customer service, good benches out front to eat and people watch. It's a little pricey, but what do you expect for a bodega on the Hill? Solid place!

One of the best tiendas in the region. They have a great selection and the staff is awesome. Hours are pretty decent too, but remember to pay for parking if you grab a spot on 14th

Capitol Supreme Market is a legacy on Capitol Hill. It's a small corner shop with all the basic goods from candy to milk to flour. If you're in a bind and can't make it to a grocery store, head to Capitol Supreme Market. They also have plants for sale outside near the icebox. Across the street is a park with a great playground for kids. The market is a great place to stop for a snack after your kids play.

Went to shop here on Tue June 18th, spent $169 and wasn't offered a receipt. The temperature was in the 90's factoring in the high humidity. Was there on Tue and then again on Thur June 20th (today). Went back today to get my receipt back. Even had pics of all 30 items and she did refund items I brought back today. However, the cashier refused to give me a receipt. Said she could give me a written out receipt. Not good enough for my employer, do yourself a favor and don't shop here......

The best grocery store for Latino foods in the area. Always stocked, always cheap, always a dope vibe. Be sure to ask the cashier for a couple fresh tamales when you're paying. Best $1.50 you'll ever spend!

Nice store, nice workers but they allow guys to hang in and outside of the store and deal.

Love this neighborhood store, fruits and veggies are available. Wonderful service.

Cool locally-owned grocery store with a very broad selection in a very convenient location. They're a little more expensive than a chain grocery (being a small business and all), but the owners are super nice and the store is great. I absolutely recommend going here, especially if you live in Dupont or you're staying one of the nearby hotels!

Metro's come a long way in the past few years. Lots of renovations and improvements have helped make this little family-owned supermarket a vital shop for the Dupont Circle neighborhood. The grocery business is tough, so prices don't really compete with Safeway or Whole Foods, but the selection is broad and produce fresh. Great for when you need to pick up just a few things or if you just don't want to walk that far to get your groceries. Nice wine and beer selection, too.

Boys crowd the front of store 🚬 and drinking and it closes to early

Too many people outside for me. Make you not want to enter store. But people are nice who works on store. Product looks fishy. I’ll watch what I buy.

Enter at your own risk. The only thing I will purchase from this store is a lottery ticket. The store is nasty and dirty and the food looks old. However, the workers are nice.

It was an amazing school it taught me everything I needed to know and more now I am way ahead of all my classes. It also has amazing teachers and students.

Great place to get reasonable prices on groceries and the spices are waaaaay cheaper than Safeway.
Is it small? Yes. Are the aisles cramped? Yes. But there's great stuff here for those willing to look.
They have a lot of specialty items (different kinds of Salvadoran cheeses for example). Great quality fresh cilantro, mint etc. Worth checking out.

This is the store I grew up in meaning my dad ran this store when I was a kid his name is Lefty

It's a corner grocery store. The cash registers are behind an inch of bulletproof glass. They have a nice selection of beer (crafts, imports, and domestics), but I usually go to Adams Market a half-block to the east.

It was a little late and I had missed the closing deadline for the deli. I needed a few cold cuts to feed my family. The gentleman at the store was very nice and polite and didn't turn me away. He actually took the time to make my cold cuts and was very nice and patient and didn't rush me or give me an attitude. I'm
Very grateful that he was able to take the time out and help me. I will definitely be going back to this particular store again.
