Came here for a friend’s birthday recently. Had a reservation, came on time, the host was unwelcoming and very cold towards us. We were placed at an awkward table even though it was late evening and the restaurant was nearly empty with just a small handful of tables open. The staff did not attend to our table, although we had one server drop bread. No one came for a full 13-15 mins (again, there was no other guests that came in and the place was very slow)

We didn’t feel comfortable. We could feel the servers watching us but never coming over, and after dealing with the standoffish host, we ultimately decided to leave. We didn’t feel welcomed, we felt incredibly uncomfortable and it’s unfortunate. We’ve had such a great experience experiencing restaurants around Lima as one of us manages high-end restaurants in Los Angeles.

Can’t recommend this place, but not because of the food, but rather the poor service.

Wow!!
I am Argentinian and this place blew my mind
The meat was just perfect, and seasoned to perfection as well
The cooking point was exactly to what I asked
The side dish (asparagus) was delicious
And the sauce (pepper sauce) was a perfect complement for both the meat and the asparagus

The food was not especially good, which is frustrating because it’s very expensive. The ribeye had a nice crust but was slimy on the inside, with the fat not rendered nicely. Maybe the cooking method used is only suited for leaner cuts. If I’d ordered it medium/well it might have been better. Asparagus was slightly overcooked and tasted of fire/smoke, not of the vegetable itself.

Truly, an exceptional experience. The best food that we’ve had in Peru, and this was our first restaurant we went to. We’ve been here for a couple weeks now and eaten at only high-end places. That this place still remains at the top of our list, says a lot. Aside from the staff which tend to move a bit slow, which seems to be a part of the culture here, not any sort of laziness, everything else in this place was spectacular. We highly recommend!

We did not have a good experience on our recent visit to this restaurant. The service was really lousy. Waiters and staff were just chitchatting, without acknowledging our table for a long period of time. The food was also subpar. If you go to a restaurant that you pay top dollar, you should expect good service and excellent cuisine. We’ve gone in the past and the service and food was a lot better. Something has changed. I would not recommend this place.

Since now, best restaurant in town, excellent place, superbe service and food, even the human spare ribbs were excellent ;-) top menu, pricy but...absolutely reccomended

Cozy steak house. Great service, very professional. We came in 5 minutes before the restaurant opened at 19:30. Sparkling water and wine already at the table. We decided to try and exquisite Santa Julia Reserva Malbec. Be aware that you will be charged for the bread, is not complimentary and it comes with a set of different flavored butter, goat cheese and salts. I asked for medium angus ribeye steak and it came medium well. Some restaurants are scared when it comes to cooking it more on the raw side. Medium is medium fellows, not medium well not medium rare. Nonetheless the quality of the meat was good. The carpaccio had a nice flavor to it too. The baked potato was ok and the fries were delicious. The bar looked amazing, if a more casual feel is wanted. If you looking for a good steak house and not having to hand in half your wallet, this is for you.

I have been to Carnal a couple of times and I have had different experiences, but mostly good. Place is great, I think it is one of a kind in Lima (upscale steakhouse, somewhat similar to Capital Grille), but with a more interesting setting.

The angus hot dog is incredible, and so are the hamburgers and most of the meat cuts. The steak tartare is excellent, it is one of my favorites.

The place is very expensive and service could be improved.
